Our VMware subsidiary is focused on shaping the future of virtualization technology, including the development of our Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS) and vSphere High Availability (HA) systems, which support modern workloads and hardware accelerators like GPUs for AI inference. Job Summary:
We seek a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our VMware VCF's vSphere HA team, supporting VM and Kubernetes on vSphere. Responsibilities include designing algorithms for high availability, supporting workload placement across storage, networking, compute, and hardware accelerators, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate vSphere HA with other VMware products. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop reliable mechanisms for multi-constraint scheduling in distributed systems. Scale algorithms supporting infrastructure-level workload availability and resource scheduling with low latency. Optimize algorithms for workload placement across storage, networking, compute, and hardware accelerators. Collaborate with teams to integrate vSphere HA with Kubernetes, NSX, vSAN, and vCenter. Translate vague problems into detailed requirements and develop effective solutions. Develop automated tests for quality assurance. Participate in code reviews, ensuring adherence to standards. Troubleshoot complex workload placement and resource balancing issues. Requirements: Bachelor's in Computer Science or related field with 12+ years of experience, or Master's with 10+ years. Proficiency in C++ and software development best practices. Ability to decompose vague problems into detailed requirements. Experience with cloud infrastructure and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Experience with agile methodologies and Git. No immigration sponsorship required. Nice to Have: Knowledge of modern workloads, schedulers like Kubernetes. Experience with Docker, containerization, VMware vSphere, NSX, vSAN. Familiarity with VMware use-cases and technologies. Must have legal authorization to work in the US. Compensation and Benefits:
Salary range $141,000 - $225,000, with bonuses, equity, and comprehensive benefits including health plans, 401(k), ESPP, paid holidays, and leaves.
