Psychometrist/Psychologist (Educational Diagnostician) Supervised by/Reports to:
Special Education Coordinator, Special Education Supervisor(s) FLSA Status:
Exempt Job Goals: To provide effective psychometry and psychology services and programs for students of the school system. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university. Valid Alabama teaching certificate. Certification as a school psychometrist or related field. Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457. Possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Ability to provide or have access to appropriate transportation to perform job responsibilities at various school sites or other settings as required. Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication skills. Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups. Ability to work collaboratively as a productive team member. Ability to use technology to communicate, to manage data, and to produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information. Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities. Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require. Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities. Maintains and submits weekly log of student referrals. Documents in SETS or other applicable state/system database reasons for overdue initial referrals. Assesses referred students through appropriate test selection. Administers tests for initial referrals and reevaluations. Determines needed follow up with students, parents or faculty. Interprets and integrates referral information and evaluation results into a comprehensive report. Enters eligibility information into SETS or other applicable state/system database. Attends referral meetings on individual students as needed. Attends eligibility meetings on individual students. Interprets the school psychological services to students, teachers, parents/guardians and administrators. Confers with resource consultants, supervisors, coordinators, teachers and parents/guardians. Conducts interview with parents for specific exceptionalities. Tracks data on timeline/reevaluation due dates for the SDE. Monitors student reevaluations. Assists with compliance verification on transfers, reevaluations, and initial referrals. Attends staff meetings, workshops, and professional organization meetings for staff development. Assists with summer referrals to eligibility tasks. Assists in maintaining files in file room and warehouse. Confers with attorneys on due process. Develops and conducts inservice programs on new or updated assessments, evaluations, timelines, reevaluations, and other areas as needed. Keeps informed regarding research in psychological and educational testing practices in the areas of test construction, test administration and testing results interpretation. Works with outside agencies to assist in providing appropriate assessments, placements and transition services. Supervises and evaluates staff assigned in accordance with school system procedures and schedules. Performs duties in a courteous and professional manner. Maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters. Demonstrates initiative in identifying potential problems and/or opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility. Works cooperatively and productively with the Superintendent and other administrative staff to ensure the system's vision, goals and strategies are implemented and providing all pertinent data to all appropriate personnel within the designated time frame. Engages in professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and effective leadership. Reports potential problems, unusual events, or work irregularities to appropriate administrative or supervisory personnel. Attends conferences and training sessions to improve skills and programs. Responds to inquiries, requests, constructive feedback, concerns and/or complaints in a timely and positive manner. Maintains and submits reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner. Properly uses and cares for equipment and material resources of the school system and effectively supervises and monitors others in the care, maintenance, and use of tools, equipment, and inventory. Uses effective collaboration skills to work as an effective team member. Serves as needed on committees, tasks forces or representative bodies. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local regulations. Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures. Performs any other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s). Terms of Employment:
Nine, ten, or twelve-month position in accordance with the Board's salary schedule. Evaluation:
