The role involves developing, maintaining, and enhancing web applications that support the University's business processes, academic operations, and research initiatives. Responsibilities: • Develop, maintain, and enhance web applications using PHP, Laravel, and WordPress. • Collaborate with the senior applications developer, directors, and clients to define requirements and implement solutions. • Administer and extend WordPress sites by implementing new themes, plugins, and custom functionality. • Optimize and ensure web applications meet security, performance, and accessibility standards. • Participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices for web development. • Assist in managing student developers, delegating tasks as needed. • Conduct usability and accessibility reviews to ensure compliance with Section 508 and WCAG guidelines. • Provide technical support and training to non-technical staff and clients on web applications and CMS usage. • Stay up-to-date with emerging web technologies and best practices to enhance our digital solutions. Qualifications: Required: • Associate's degree and four years of related experience OR bachelor's degree and two years of related experience OR six years of related experience. • Professional experience developing web applications using PHP and Laravel. • Applied use with Git version control and collaborative development workflows. • Experience demonstrating problem-solving skills and managing multiple projects simultaneously. Preferred: • Experience working in an Agile development environment. • Experience with RESTful APIs and integrating third-party services. • Knowledge of MySQL or other relational databases. • Experience with web accessibility standards and best practices. • Communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. • Experience mentoring or supervising junior developers. • Experience with DevOps practices and deployment workflows.
