Job Overview
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Training all New Hired Inpatient Phlebotomist in proper specimen collection, as well as blood collection techniques. Setting up and scheduling training of PCT staff in Lab collection as needed. Oversight of quality metrics, including Blood Culture collection and contamination rates, Blood Banding, along with other specimen integrity matters. Expected to work in staffing as needed and determined by lab leadership. Follow up with staff who may be experiencing difficulty with blood collection process or poor quality.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. Previous phlebotomy experience required. Graduate of a certified phlebotomy program required. Associate's degree as a Medical Assistant or other hospital related field required. Minimum of five years' relevant experience in a medical/clinical office setting required. Certified as a Clinical Laboratory Assistant by the American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) Required. Certified as a Phlebotomist by the ASCP or National Phlebotomy Association (NPA) required. Certified as a Clinical Laboratory Assistant by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) preferred. Certified as a Phlebotomist by the ASCP or National Phlebotomy Association (NPA) preferred.
