The Senior Programmer will lead the team of programmers to improve the process controls of the current and future operational processes, by ensuring projects and planned activities meet committed objectives within the Programming Unit. The Senior Programmer also applies process knowledge based on sound turning and milling fundamentals. Use strong leadership abilities with innovation to develop and maintain “Best in Class” cycle times and quality for lathes, mills, and grinders.
What You'll Do:
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Avalign policies, such as interviewing, training, and developing employee skills, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems. Adjusts resource load to match flow of work according to daily priorities. Create and maintain CNC machine programming including 4-axis mills, Swiss style lathes, mill-turns, and multi-axis grinders. Assist in training operators with machining fundamentals. Identify and implement continuous process improvement strategies. Create and maintain CNC machining set up sheets for new and existing programs and product. Program new jobs and maintain (re-program) old jobs. Manage and update DNC data base, maintain, modification and analysis of documentation. Upload, download, and manual editing of M and G codes of CNC machine programs on shop floor. Assist in the selection of tooling requirements for processing new products. Comply with all policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need:
Strong understanding of Swiss Lathes, Chucker Lathes, Machining Centers, Wire EDM and/or Grinders. Organized, quality-minded attitude and determination to be “Best in Class”. Willingness to lead by example. Minimum of a High School Diploma. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge, operation on maintenance of CAD/CAM software, Mastercam, Esprit, PartMaker, Unigraphics, etc. Working knowledge of CNC software; Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Supervise other employees in the Programming Unit; this includes annual performance reviews, training, mentoring, disciplinary action, attendance, etc. with input from Engineering Manager.
Education and/or Experience:
Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent; technical degree is preferred Minimum 5 years of experience in the set-up and operations of manufacturing equipment (Lathes, Mills, Wire EDM, Grinders). Minimum 5 years’ experience with 4 to 9 axis machines Experience with continuous process improvements through LEAN concepts, Visual Management Systems, Kanban, and cross-training.
