Starting rate for this role is $66.01. PRIMARY FOCUS OF THE POSITION: Upon successful completion of Initial License Training (including obtaining your Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Reactor Operator (RO) License), you will operate the Nuclear Power Station, adhering to the Licensed Reactor Operators’ responsibilities outlined in station operating procedures and Operations Department policies. During Training: Participate in classes designed to achieve RO License. Complete classroom lessons, study sessions, exams, and field training required for licensing. Assume additional duties to support operations as needed. Successfully finish Initial Training and attain Watch Station Qualifications. Pass company and NRC exams to obtain RO license. Once Licensed: Operate the plant in accordance with approved procedures, ensuring safe, conservative, and efficient reactor operations. Continuously monitor reactor conditions to remain within established safety parameters. Observe control room panels and promptly report unusual conditions to the Unit Supervisor. Maintain awareness of ongoing activities affecting the unit and support assigned Reactor Operators. Keep a detailed log of operational activities during your shift. Conduct clearance activities as needed. Coordinate liquid radwaste management with Reactor Operators and Radwaste Equipment Operators. Manage electrical switching operations from the Control Room. Be available for on-call duties, rotating shifts, holiday and weekend work, and participate in the Emergency Response Organization when necessary. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Pass the Plant Operator Selection System (POSS) and Basic Math and Science Test (BMST) during pre-employment. Successfully complete the NRC-required physical examination for licensed operators. Capability to qualify as a fire brigade member, including physical requirements (ability to wear a respirator and a 20-pound oxygen tank). Obtain unescorted access to Constellation's nuclear power facilities. Meet or exceed one of the following: 6 months as a non-licensed operator on-site at a Constellation nuclear plant, totaling 18 months of power plant experience. 12 months as a non-licensed operator at a comparable nuclear facility, or 18 months at a non-comparable facility, totaling 18 months of power plant experience. 6 months as an active licensed reactor operator at a comparable facility, or 12 months at a non-comparable facility, totaling 18 months of power plant experience. 18 months in a position equivalent to reactor operator in the Navy, including roles like Engineering Officer of the Watch. 27 months of relevant experience in a non-nuclear power production plant during various operational activities, with similar roles in petrochemical or steam propulsion plants being acceptable.
