Role Overview: The MRI Technologist operates specialized MRI equipment to perform high-quality diagnostic imaging procedures. This role involves direct patient interaction, technical judgment, and adherence to safety standards to ensure accurate and efficient imaging services.
Key Responsibilities: Imaging & Technical Duties: Perform MRI imaging procedures in accordance with clinical protocols. Position patients and MRI coils for optimal imaging results. Evaluate and ensure technical quality of images before submission. Appropriately label and transmit images to PACS in a timely manner. Maintain MRI equipment cleanliness and report any malfunctions. Patient Care & Communication:
Review MRI safety questionnaires prior to scanning. Educate patients about the MRI procedure and provide specific instructions. Ensure patient safety by strictly adhering to MRI safety and infection control guidelines. Assist physicians during procedures and communicate patient status when needed. Administrative Tasks:
Accurately enter, complete, and track patient data in the Radiology Information System (IDX). Schedule exams and scan patient-related documentation. Perform related clerical tasks in the absence of support staff. Operational & Compliance:
Maintain a clean and safe MRI environment including managing supplies. Attend required in-service sessions and maintain licensure. Comply with institutional, state, and federal safety and health regulations. Qualifications & Certifications: Education:
Required: Graduate of an AMA/J.C.E.R.T. approved Radiologic Technology program Preferred: N/A Licensure & Certifications:
Required:
NY State License in Diagnostic Radiology ARRT (MRI Registry) BCLS Certification
Preferred: N/A Skills & Experience: Required:
Strong knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, MRI physics, and related physical sciences. Excellent technical skills in MRI imaging procedures. Preferred:
Minimum of 2 years of MRI experience.
