Local Contract Pharmacist Job Description
Under the general supervision of the Director, the Pharmacist will be responsible for having a working knowledge of all areas of pharmaceutical services provided by our client.

Pharmacy Operations Responsibilities: Medication Management:
Maintain adequate and timely drug inventory Follow procurement protocols for standard and emergency medications Complete annual inventory and report findings Remove outdated medications and handle returns/recalls appropriately Ensure antidotes and emergency drugs are readily available Sterile Product Preparation:
Prepare and label all drugs and chemicals accurately Sterilize and compound parenteral solutions as needed Confirm competency for staff handling large-volume parenterals Ensure proper labeling and expiration dating of all sterile products Dispensing & Documentation:
Read, interpret, and fill prescriptions accurately Ensure proper labeling and accountability for all medications dispensed Fulfill stat orders promptly Maintain compliance with all federal and state pharmacy regulations Accurately record and document all dispensed medications and maintain compliance with legal requirements Medication Storage & Inspection:
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the pharmacy Monitor and log refrigerator temperatures Conduct monthly inspections of all medication storage and usage areas Ensure proper control and documentation of controlled substances Clinical Support & Education:
Participate in the development and maintenance of the hospital formulary Educate staff and patients on medication usage, including discharge instructions Contribute to staff development, orientation, and training Provide drug information and consultation to healthcare professionals Support the organization’s accreditation efforts and promote a culture of quality improvement Clinical Expertise and Communication: Required Clinical Knowledge:
Antimicrobial Stewardship:
Ability to interpret culture results and provide evidence-based recommendations (e.g., UTI, pneumonia, SSTI) Pharmacokinetics:
Dose and monitor medications based on patient-specific factors Anticoagulation Management:
Dosing, monitoring, and patient-specific adjustments Communication Skills:
Obtain accurate medication histories from patients, families, or outside pharmacies Conduct discharge counseling and ensure patients understand their post-discharge medication regimen Technical and System Skills:
Proficient in EPIC Skilled in Medication Reconciliation processes
Additional Responsibilities:
Participate in quality assurance and medication utilization reviews Implement decisions from the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee Serve as a clinical resource and role model for staff Perform additional duties as assigned
Additional Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey BLSHCP required. Valid NJ Driver's License is required. Related experience in Clinical Applications preferred. Nucleus Healthcare Job ID #3762. About Nucleus Healthcare
