Iowa Medical Center is seeking a Physician Assistant with orthopedic surgery experience to provide locum tenens coverage supporting their orthopedic surgery team. This is a full-scope orthopedic surgery role that includes clinical, surgical, inpatient rounding, and trauma call responsibilities.

• Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM

• Weeknight call duties

• 24-hour weekend call

• Provide inpatient rounding on post-operative orthopedic surgery patients

• Manage inpatient and emergency department orthopedic consults

• Assist in the operating room for orthopedic surgeries

• Clinical and surgical management including trauma and fracture care

• Participate in outpatient clinic visits (appointment length minutes)

• Collaborate with nursing, surgery schedulers, and ancillary staff

• Total joint replacements: hip, knee, shoulder

• Surgical procedures on hand, wrist, knee, shoulder, hip, ankle, and foot

• Management of trauma injuries, fractures, and sports medicine cases

• EMR systems: GE Centricity (clinic), Epic (hospital)

• Average hospital census approximately 160 patients daily

• Teaching opportunities with Internal Medicine and Family Medicine residencies, and PA student rotations

• Support staff includes nursing, cast techs, reception, and surgery schedulers

• Board Certified or Board Eligible Physician Assistant in Orthopedic Surgery

• Active Iowa medical license or Compact/IMLC LOQ license required

• Clean malpractice history

• Able to provide updated CV and list of available coverage dates at time of submission
