The Bon Secours Hospitalist team at Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA is adding an Acute Care Nocturnist NP/PA to provide overnight care to hospitalized patients and support our in-house Nocturnist Physician. ACNP or PA, Required excellent training rotations in acute care setting (ER/Hospitalist/Urgent Care/Internal Medicine) and graduate of NP/PA program with acute care qualifications Must have Virginia license and DEA, ACLS/BLS Requires critical thinking skills, customer service skills, flexibility, calm under pressure, friendly demeanor, collaborative team player Nocturnist APC will manage and respond to floor calls, addressing the needs of hospitalized patients and coordinating appropriate care Collaborate and communicate effectively with supervising physician, specialists, and nursing. Assist supervising physician with admissions and downgrades from medical ICU. Review diagnostic tests including imaging studies and labs to determine if patients are appropriate for discharge. APC nocturnist support will enhance capacity for admissions by reducing wait times and expediting patient throughput. APC will assess patients overnight to facilitate early discharges, assist with admissions from the E.R., in house consults and transfer from outside facilities Work schedule is 7 days on - 7 days off - 12 hour shifts 8:00 pm to 8:00 AM Average 6-8 admissions per night, average in-house census 70-90 All adult and geriatric patients Mentorship provided Opportunity for PA student training rotations Our team is made up of MDs and APCs who work together in a collegial, family-oriented culture where collaboration, mutual respect and open communication are at the core of our practice.
