This position works directly with the Chief Pathology Officer to implement all aspects of laboratory projects to ensure efficient workflow, compliance with regulatory standards, and achievement of project objectives. This role involves managing interdisciplinary teams, driving strategic initiatives, optimizing processes, and serving as a liaison between departments to facilitate collaboration and innovation. Essential Duties And Responsibilities: Work with laboratory leadership to research, design and implement various laboratory operations projects and improvement initiatives. These projects include, but are not limited to, workflow improvements, technology enhancements, developing project timelines and ensuring adherence to set timelines, researching possible alternatives for identified projects, coordinating project design and assisting in selection of best alternative to meet project goal(s). Plan, execute, and oversee laboratory projects from initiation to completion. Reports regularly to Chief Pathology Officer regarding project status. Establish timelines, milestones, and deliverables, ensuring adherence to deadlines and budgets. Coordinate cross-departmental teams to achieve project goals. Work closely with laboratory staff to introduce and implement new processes. Train staff as needed on new initiatives, procedures, protocols, etc. Validate all Digital Pathology Systems according to CAP and CLIA guidelines. Coordinate all meetings and schedules regarding digital pathology initiatives. Implement digital pathology programs. Maintain LIS databases (Diagnosis macros, Microscopic macros, text macros, ICD-10 codes, ModMed Suggested Diagnoses, etc.). Create new surgical results macros, procedure panels, and text macros as directed by pathologists. Disseminate new macros and procedures to all relevant staff. Maintain oversight of daily laboratory operations and resolve workflow bottlenecks. Act as a liaison between the laboratory and other departments, fostering collaboration and communication. Monitor and ensure adherence to regulatory compliance and laboratory best practices. Provide on-site troubleshooting for laboratory IT systems, including computers, printers, scanners, software, and peripheral devices. Establish and maintain connectivity between the LIS and laboratory devices. Serve as the primary point of contact for resolving technical issues, minimizing disruptions to laboratory operations. Liaise with the off-site IT department as needed for escalated support. Conduct research support by querying the Laboratory Information System (LIS) to identify and retrieve cases for review. Gather and organize materials, slides, and results for use in scientific studies or publications. Identify and implement workflow optimizations to enhance efficiency and accuracy in laboratory processes. Lead strategic planning initiatives, aligning projects with organizational goals. Develop and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) for various laboratory functions. Provide guidance and training to laboratory staff, fostering professional development and skills enhancement. Serve as a resource for technical expertise and operational problem-solving. Assist in integrating new hires into laboratory operations. Submit and maintain billing records and case materials. Develop and maintain comprehensive spreadsheets for data tracking and analysis.
