Job Description Hardware Engineering Manager Tasks : · Drive architecture design, working with component vendors, design partners (ODM), and internal engineering resources. · Create product-level technical specifications (performance, function) for design partners · Review hardware design (schematics, PCB layout) in great detail · Review design partner’s hardware engineering validation plans and test results, provide feedback. · Drive creation of internal hardware engineering validation plans, drive test execution, review results · Drive resolution of issues in a timely manner, digging into details as far as necessary. · Review ODM factory test plans, test results, and participate in yield improvement efforts during product ramp. Visit ODM factory overseas as needed. · Work with other internal teams such as Mechanical Design, Firmware, and others during architecture phase and later on to ensure proper project execution. · Oversee the work of internal Hardware Engineers, some may be direct reports, some dotted line reports. Train and mentor team members · Position is on-site (non-remote) · International travel required. Required Qualifications · Strong electrical engineering design experience, spanning power supply and battery circuits, microcontroller designs, audio, design for EMI. At least 3 years of hands-on design/architecture work in the last 5 years. · Must have released numerous products to mass production, including some battery powered wireless products. · Proficient at document/specification writing, technical analysis and simulation, test planning, and task planning. · Proficient at reviewing schematics and PCB layouts, providing feedback to designers.
