About the Role
Reports directly to the plant manager and is responsible for 8 direct reports.
As the Manager of Manufacturing Engineering , you will play a key leadership role in our manufacturing operations, overseeing process development, product enhancement, machine optimization, labor standards, and cost reduction initiatives. You will be part of the decision-making team for this company's Orangeburg, SC location. Your mission will be to drive continuous improvement, enhance machine utilization, and implement cost-effective solutions that maximize productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor the Manufacturing Engineering team in developing innovative process improvements.
- Optimize manufacturing efficiency through advanced process development and machine characterization.
- Establish and refine labor standards to ensure productivity and cost-effectiveness.
- Partner with internal teams and customers to implement high-quality engineering solutions.
- Drive cost-reduction strategies while maintaining product excellence.
- Oversee compliance with industry standards, including IEEE, UL, AEIC, NEC, ASTM, and ISO 9000.
- Promote safety, environmental awareness, and regulatory compliance within the manufacturing environment.
- Utilize data-driven insights and SPC methodologies to enhance operational performance.
- Represent the manufacturing division during plant tours and customer visits.
The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader with deep expertise in manufacturing engineering and a proven ability to drive process improvements. You should have:✓ 10+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, with at least 5-10 years in management .✓ A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent experience in medium/heavy manufacturing).✓ Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to engage with staff at all levels.✓ Experience in cable manufacturing is a plus / extrusion experience is a must!! ✓ A systems-oriented mindset and a data-driven approach to decision-making.✓ Proficiency in PC-based tools for analysis, reporting, and communication.✓ Knowledge of metrology, thermoplastics, thermosets, and process improvement methodologies .✓ A strong understanding of manufacturing safety, environmental regulations, and quality systems .✓ A competitive, goal-oriented mindset with a drive for continuous improvement.
