We work with the cross-functional teams (Design, Quality, NPI, Production, Sustaining, and Supply Chain) throughout the entire lifecycle of a product (from initial design through prototype development and into full production) to develop high quality and efficient manufacturing equipment and processes that will produce battery modules for Tesla's cutting-edge power electronics.
What You'll Do
Develop manufacturing equipment, fixtures, and processes to support early-stage prototype builds and scale for high-volume production Determine and procure necessary equipment for all manufacturing processes, collaborating with integrators to design and manufacture equipment and fixtures Manage suppliers through specification, design, buyoff, and installation of manufacturing equipment Characterize, validate, and optimize new equipment and fixtures for seamless production floor integration Design efficient production workstation layouts to enhance product flow, ergonomics, and efficiency while conducting process analysis, DOE, PFMEA, line balancing, and capacity modeling/simulation Provide DFM (design for manufacturability) input to improve processes and yield outcomes Create detailed manufacturing instructions and documentation to train technicians, implement new processes, and ensure smooth handoff to production and sustaining teams
What You'll Bring
3+ years of experience as a hands-on Mechanical/Manufacturing/Design Engineer working on mechanical and/or electromechanical systems Experience using 2D cad tools for conceptual line design (AutoCAD) and 3D design for mechanical equipment, fixturing, and tooling (SolidWorks or CATIA) Experience with conveyance, transducer-based fastening systems (Atlas Copco preferred), robotic systems (Fanuc preferred), adhesive dispensing, laser welding, vision-based inspection, and measurement systems (Keyence preferred) or automated functional testing Experience with GD & T and system stack up analysis Experience creating technical specifications for automated manufacturing equipment Experience providing Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Automation (DFA) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
