Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) is hiring a Master's Level Engagement and Outreach Specialist to support clients with serious mental illness who struggle to access traditional outpatient care. As a key member of our Adult Outpatient team, you will work directly with clients in the community to identify and address barriers to engagement, using trauma-informed and person-centered strategies. This role involves outreach, motivational engagement, and short-term care coordination to help clients re-enter or access treatment.
Primary Responsibilities: Carry a caseload of clients requiring outreach and engagement services to promote participation in outpatient behavioral health care. Conduct telephonic and in-person outreach to clients who are unengaged, offering problem-solving, education, and motivational support. Organize and facilitate Connections Orientation and serve as point of contact for follow-up when clients miss orientation or initial appointments. Coordinate outreach for clients who miss their first treatment session or those assigned to alternative scheduling. Provide crisis intervention during outreach efforts and collaborate with the Crisis Response Team and other acute care settings. Deliver engagement-focused interventions such as motivational interviewing, goal setting, and support with system navigation. Arrange transportation support, including paratransit setup and public transit education, to reduce barriers to service. Act as a liaison between KMHS and external community agencies to foster collaboration and facilitate referrals. Support triage for walk-in clients who are unable to be seen by their assigned provider or team. Monitor engagement readiness and coordinate warm handoffs to primary providers for consistent treatment. Collaborate on treatment planning and goal-setting aligned with client needs and engagement status. Provide education and consultation to families, community providers, and agencies to support client progress. Accurately document all client services and activities in accordance with agency standards and timelines. Participate in treatment team meetings and communicate updates related to client engagement efforts.
Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATION: Master's Degree in Psychology, social services, or behavioral health field.
EXPERIENCE: 1 year of experience required.
This position requires driving clients in a personal vehicle on behalf of the agency; therefore, the incumbent must meet agency driving requirements, including meeting the minimum age requirement of 21 years old, successfully completing a motor vehicle history check, possessing and maintaining a current, valid driver's license in the state of Washington, and having reliable, insured transportation.
LICENSURE: Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration.
An essential and required task of this position is driving clients in a personal vehicle on behalf of the agency; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in the state of Washington, and have reliable, insured transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE: Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience)
Experience in co-occurring disorders treatment, individual and group therapy, vocational services, or substance abuse treatment.
