Description
SAIC is currently seeking a highly skilled
Material Planner/Control Tech I
to provide essential support to our Joint Range Extension (JRE) Products Integration Group. In this role, the Material Planner/Control Tech I will act as a key liaison between the company and external suppliers, reporting directly to the Senior Logistics Analyst.
This role is onsite in San Diego, CA. Must be local to area.
This role demands a proactive approach to supplier management, coupled with a meticulous attention to detail in cost analysis and documentation.

JOB DUTIES: Maintain regular communication with suppliers through phone and email to obtain quotes, input data, conduct research on potential new suppliers, and review and negotiate pricing based on the received quotes. Develop new Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for JRE Products, perform cost analysis comparisons with existing BOEs, and identify any End of Life (EOL) materials. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of effective purchasing strategies to enhance procurement processes. Exhibit proficiency in interpreting and analyzing Manufacturing Drawings, including detailed Top Assembly and Sub-Assembly drawings. Leverage experience with Cost Point to research previous Purchase Orders effectively. Ensure that all suppliers, distributors, and potential material sources are included on the qualified SAIC Approved Vendor List (AVL). Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS: Must have a High School Degree or higher. Must be a U.S. Citizen. Ability to obtain a Secret Security clearance. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills are vital for success in this role. Demonstrated ability to adapt to evolving work demands and effectively manage shifting priorities. Preferred experience in logistics within the manufacturing industry or government, with the capability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings and bills of materials. A detail-oriented and proactive individual who excels in managing supplier relationships and ensuring the timely delivery of quotes. Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills are necessary. DESIRED SKILLS: Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience preferred. The ideal candidate possesses a strong materials background and exceptional record-keeping skills, crucial for maintaining accurate and accessible documentation. Effective communication is paramount, requiring the ability to articulate information clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing. Success in this role demands a highly organized and detail-oriented individual who excels as a self-starter. Strong time management skills are essential for coordinating and prioritizing multiple projects efficiently, often with minimal supervision, within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Experience with Costpoint, particularly within Parts Master File, Purchase Requisition, and Bill of Materials modules, is highly desirable. Target salary range: Up to $40,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
