This job is responsible for assisting self pay patients across the Health System with Medicaid enrollment applications. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, interviewing self pay patient referrals, explaining the significance of the program to patients, completing and submitting the Medicaid application, updating the various systems with the status of the case, and following up with the patient or the state on the status of the case. Education
Required - High School diploma or equivalent Preferred
Bachelors' degree Work Experience
Required
1 year of customer service, healthcare, or office experience Preferred
Previous Medicaid Experience Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information. Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally. Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to perform effectively under conditions of fluctuating workload without compromising assigned deadlines. Works with minimal supervision and makes independent decisions. Ability to demonstrate problem resolution and follow through. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Job Duties
Utilizes EPIC and census reports to conduct interview/screening of self-pay patients to identify eligibility for state/governmental financial programs. Assigns proper Federal Poverty Level (FPL) status, billing indicators and update insurance coverage in EPIC. Completes timely follow-up on self-pay patients and/or pending applications. Enrolls patients in applicable programs following government financial program guidelines. Provides top quality customer service experience by providing appropriate/applicable levels of competency and professionalism with each patient contact. Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
