This position is available for Medical Lab Techs or Medical Technologists. It is a 0.0FTE/Per-diem position scheduled to work variable 8-hour shifts and is UFCW represented. Compensation varies depending on certifications, ranging from $24.20 to $54.55 per hour. Responsible for accurate and efficient testing and reporting of waived, moderately complex, and highly complex laboratory results. The Clinical Laboratory Scientist is also responsible for ensuring the integrity of all policies, procedures, and testing systems, including specimen procurement, specimen processing, and specimen distribution procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide timely and accurate test results to laboratory clients. Functions as the primary resource for analysis of tests. Performs specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient results. Confirms abnormal and critical values, verifies quality control procedures, and develops solutions to problems concerning the generation of laboratory data. Adheres to the laboratory's quality control policies, documenting all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and suggests improvements. Adheres to the laboratory's equipment maintenance policies, performing preventative and corrective maintenance, identifying sources for repair, and documenting all maintenance procedures. Performs proficiency testing and maintains records that demonstrate that samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples. Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned. Additional Essential Duties for Medical Technologist
Performs all STAT and routine clinical testing according to established standards and completes analysis within established time frames. Reviews policies and procedures for compliance to laws, regulations, and inspection agency standards and suggests improvements to the Director. Reviews and evaluates lab reports for clarity, accuracy, and timeliness. Participates in the orientation and competency assessment of students and new employees. Participates in the continuing education opportunities and disseminates information to peers, MLTs, Lab Assistants, and other laboratory staff. Effectively produces department summary for the status of any outstanding work for the next shift. Required Education and Experience
For Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) position: Minimum 1 year experience in a hospital-based lab is preferred. For Medical Technologist position: Minimum 1 year experience in a hospital-based lab is preferred. Required Licenses Certifications and/or Registrations
For Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT): Registry as a Medical Laboratory Technician MLT (ASCP/AMT/AAB/NCA). Individuals hired under Registry Eligible (48211) will have 6 months from date of hire to become registered. For Medical Technologist Position: Registry as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) MT/MLT (ASCP/AMT/AAB/NCA). Individuals hired under Registry Eligible (48209) will have 6 months from date of hire to become registered. Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Ability to identify and employ communication strategies appropriate to the audience. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and display flexibility in a fast-paced and changing work environment. Able to create model and sustain a positive environment for effective collaboration, counseling, conflict resolution skills. Able to use one or more electronic medical record applications (e.g. Cerner). Effective communication skills.
