Description
Girls Inc. of Greater Santa Barbara is seeking a creative, passionate, and community-minded BOLD Program Coordinator to lead programming that prepares girls to find their voice, develop their leadership, and express themselves with confidence and purpose.
BOLD is Girls Inc.'s leadership and advocacy initiative that fosters self-awareness, advocacy, civic engagement, and creative expression. Programming includes theater and performance, art and design, leadership development, and youth-led advocacy. In a girl-centered environment, the BOLD Coordinator will inspire participants to explore their identities, stand up for what they believe in, and build the confidence to lead.
Under the guidance of the Elementary Programs Manager and Director of Programs, the Coordinator will design and facilitate arts-based and advocacy-focused curriculum that strengthens self-expression, leadership, and resilience.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in youth development, the arts, and advocacy education, and a deep enthusiasm for amplifying the voices of girls through storytelling, performance, visual art, and community action.
This position supports both on-campus and school-based programs across Santa Barbara and Goleta and plays a key role in cultivating the next generation of creative, informed, and bold leaders.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Design & Facilitation
Design and lead interactive programming that builds girls’ leadership, public speaking, collaboration, and advocacy skills through art, theater, and civic education.
Develop and facilitate youth-led community projects and creative campaigns that address issues important to girls.
Provide structured opportunities for self-expression through visual arts, creative writing, drama, and performance.
Program Implementation & Evaluation
Facilitate daily enrichment blocks and club rotations focused on advocacy, theater, and arts.
Collaborate with program staff and volunteers to support inclusive, empowering experiences for all participants.
Maintain and organize program supplies and materials for creative and performance-based learning.
Family & Community Engagement
In collaboration with the Elementary Programs Manager, plan and host two annual showcases (e.g., performances, art exhibitions, or advocacy events) to elevate girls’ voices and involve families and community members.
Cultivate connections with local artists, performers, and advocates to enrich programming and provide mentorship opportunities.
Support outreach events and mini-camps during school breaks with a focus on creativity and leadership.
Team & Site Collaboration
Coordinate with Girls Inc. site teams to ensure aligned programming that complements other core initiatives.
Participate in all required trainings, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.
Support site-wide events and organizational initiatives as needed, including occasional evening and weekend responsibilities.
Requirements
Qualifications Required:
18 years of age or older
Minimum 2 years of experience in youth development, education, theater, creative arts education, advocacy, or leadership programming
12 college level units in early childhood education or any of the following substitutes: sociology, psychology, art, music, dance, drama, recreation, education
Experience creating and facilitating curriculum that is inclusive, youth-driven, and culturally responsive
Strong group facilitation, classroom management, and youth mentorship skills
Passion for creative expression and community engagement
Excellent communication, collaboration, and time management skills
Clean criminal record
Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening
Proof of vaccination per licensing requirements (Pertussis, Measles, TB)
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Qualifications Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Theater, Art, Social Work, Women’s & Gender Studies, or related field
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Valid California Driver’s License and willingness to pursue Class B license with passenger endorsement (transportation training and support provided)
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
Typical indoor/outdoor youth program environment with occasional off-site events.
Active engagement with youth including movement between classrooms, art rooms, and performance spaces.
Ability to lift and move up to 20 lbs., and remain active throughout program hours.
