JOB SUMMARY The Data Analyst - Intermediate is responsible for the creation and maintenance of spreadsheets, databases, manuals, and system data calls used to support the business unit and/or enterprise. This position will compile data from multiple sources using Query tools to create dashboards, integrated views, and reports that can be used to drive decision making as well as identifying improvement opportunities. This position is an on-site role; employees must live within a 50-mile radius of Citizens' Jacksonville, FL office. Visa sponsorship is not available.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Models ethical behavior and executes job responsibilities in accordance with Citizens' core values, ethics, and information protection policies. Utilize business systems and database tools to define, extract, create queries as well as analyze and compile statistical data to prepare various reports, charts or written summaries for management to support recommendations or validate results. Create, analyze, and maintain spreadsheets, relational databases, dashboards and reports used to measure, monitor and manage results of projects and assignments. Analyze and summarize data trends/performance using data from internal sources for various audiences including Citizens' management teams and outside parties - frequency may be on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis. Serve as liaison between IT and business units for policy data coordination. Utilize knowledge of business systems and database tools to analyze results of projects and assignments. Participate in the maintenance and upkeep of standard reporting documentation and documented dependencies. Collaborate with business unit and various levels of staff including Executive Leadership, as directed, to evaluate work processes and identify enhancements to system functions or processing to facilitate improved turn-around times and performance risk and controls. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Strong working knowledge of COGNOS business intelligence products such as Analysis Studio, Report Studio, Query Studio, Dashboards and Cognos BI Version 8 or equivalent Business Intelligence tools. Proficient level of knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Access. Ability to perform advanced analysis on business data and deliver reports to management with a high level of quality and attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to effectively interact with both internal and external contacts in person, by e-mail, or over the phone. Professional experience and demonstrated ability to manipulate and analyze data using database tools such as Microsoft Access, ACL, SQL Server Management Studio or Advanced Query Tool, data warehouse, audit automation or data mining tools. Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills, including ability to work in a team environment. Demonstrated ability to solve problems through analytical approaches. Ability to manage multiple assignments and projects simultaneously with high level of attention to detail and accuracy. Strong quantitative, data analysis, analytical, and report writing skills. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
3 or more years of experience in analytics, report writing, pivot tables, macros, working with various reporting tools such as Microsoft Excel/Access, Cognos, and/or Crystal Reports, which also includes 2 or more years of experience in data management, development projects and activities. High School Diploma or GED Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in Mathematics, Statistics, Information Management, Computer Science, or related field OR 3 years relevant experience, OR a combination of college education and relevant experience equivalent to 3 years PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
3 years experience in data management projects and activities. 4 years combined experience in developing data metrics, analytics, dashboards, complex queries. Experience retrieving data from Microsoft SQL Server, DB2, Oracle or comparable relational databases. Experience in primary functional business area (e.g., Insurance Operations, Finance, Human Resources, Vendor Management) as well as experience in a financial or insurance services organization. Experience with data management techniques for dealing with Personally Identifiable Information (PII). Experience with SQL queries and working in a cloud data environment. Ability to organize material, analyze a wide variety of facts and develop appropriate recommendations. Successful completion of formal training program related to the subject of data forensics. Actuarial and/or investigative experience, Business Analyst experience as well as experience with Scorecard and Dashboard design and defining business metrics and providing analytics for strategic KPIs is preferred.
