This position directs all operations, safety, customer service, maintenance, cleanliness, and grain quality for a state of the art fully automated grain rail loading facility. This person will supervise all full and part time employees. This person will also supervise all transfer employees when they are onsite at the facility. This employee will perform their responsibilities in a manner that will optimize the cooperative's efficiency, help achieve the cooperative's mission and goals, and result in outstanding customer service. This employee will promote team work within their team and develop employees for positions of higher authority.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Proven management skills. Operational knowledge of all common machinery found in a grain elevator/terminal facility. Ability to make minor repairs and conduct scheduled maintenance on all equipment. Operational knowledge of railroads and railroad equipment. The ability to correctly grade corn, wheat, beans, and milo. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Computer and data entry skills. Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned. Be able to obtain and retain a class 7B grain fumigation license. The ability to exceed customer expectations at each transaction with the aptitude to respond cordially to inquiries or complaints of customers, co-workers, or regulatory agencies. The capabilities to read, analyze, interpret, and apply common scientific, technical, and legal journals. The ability to write and log information, write and interpret reports, and verbally communicate information to coworkers and customers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to smell. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
Hard hat, eye and hearing protection is required in restricted areas. Appropriate personal protective equipment (i.e. goggles, gloves, long sleeve shirt, and/or face mask) required when handling chemicals.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
A college degree plus 5 years of management experience managing a rail loading grain facility is preferred but a high school education plus ten or more years of experience successfully managing a rail loading grain handling facility will be accepted.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Work to meet railroad time allotments for loading and unloading grain. Be able to work at short notice timeframes, potentially any day of the week, to match railroad spot times. Be able to meet tight and demanding timetables under fast paced and stressful conditions. Receive and ship grain in the most efficient manner possible using available staff. Grade grain upon receipt and segregate based upon actual grade. Maintain the grain in the elevator to the highest standard of quality possible. Fumigate grain if necessary following company safety guidelines Blend all grains as necessary when shipping out by rail or truck to achieve maximum grade and price for the cooperative and our customers. Observe OSHA, state, federal, railroad, local, and MKC safety regulations; maintain equipment and facilities regularly; and follow housekeeping standards keeping facilities neat and clean. Conduct daily safety talks with employees before work and monthly team meeting with staff. Maintain all grain handling equipment in the highest possible operating condition. This includes all rolling stock as well as stationary equipment. Will work with operations manager to schedule and budget all major repairs and upgrades to the facility. Supervise all full and part time employees. Manage performance issues, performance evaluation, and development activities for all employees including all transfer or temporary staff. Maintain a positive attitude that promotes team work within the cooperative and a favorable image of the cooperative. Greet customers promptly and courteously with a friendly smile and a hello, thank them for their business, promptly and courteously answer the phone, assist customers with loading and unloading, work with customers to resolve problems and report unresolved complaints to your manager. Attend product, merchandising, and cooperative meetings and work to improve personal skills and knowledge. Desire to learn better and more efficient techniques to improve personal performance and company profitability. Record and manage all necessary data for record keeping meeting all government, independent, and MKC requirements.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Job involves work in dusty, windy, hot, humid, cold, or wet conditions; work around moving mechanical parts; high precarious situations; tight hard to access spaces; fumes or airborne particles; and moderate short term noise exposure. The job requires much stooping, standing, and climbing on ladders. Extensive scooping with a shovel and sweeping with a broom are also required.
