Position Summary: The Model Based System Engineer (MBSE) Architect supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to provide high impact, creative solutions to complex technical problems, the ability to work as part of a large team, and the ability to provide critical support and independent review of the work of teammates.
The MBSE Architect will create and manage digital representations of complex systems using modeling languages like SysML. The MBSE Architect leads the adoption and implementation of MBSE practices within projects, ensuring models effectively support design, analysis, and decision-making.
Position responsibilities: Work collaboratively with a multi-discipline team to decompose cybersecurity system requirements into functional and logical architecture and allocate logical architecture to physical implementation. Create and maintain system models, ensuring they are accurate, compliant with standards, and effectively used for various engineering tasks. Capture system requirements traceability within the system architecture model, linking them to architectural and design artifacts Apply model-based system engineering (MBSE) methodology to develop system architectural views using Systems Modeling Language (SysML) Utilize the system architecture model in support of systems engineering milestone reviews such as SRR, SDR, PDR, CDR, etc. Use state machine modeling and analysis to demonstrate dynamic system behavior, accurate state transitions, and impact of design decisions Integrate MBSE with other digital engineering activities, such as configuration management and simulation Review and translate Customer reference architecture model to internal architecture model Provide input to continuously improve MBSE training, processes, and tools Mentor systems engineers in MBSE processes and tools Foster strong customer relationships
Minimum Qualifications: Must have advanced/formal education in a relevant field such as Systems Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Software Engineering, Computer Science, and Information Systems Must have 8, or more, years of general (full-time) work experience Must have 5, or more, years of experience with systems engineering processes and tools Must have 5, or more, years of experience creating MBSE systems models in Cameo/NoMagic, IBM Rhapsody, or SPARX Enterprise Architect Must be familiar with Agile development methodologies, including iteration planning and status reporting Must have experience with Systems Modeling Language (SysML) and Unified Architecture Framework (UAF) Must have experience implementing model-based approaches on engineering projects/programs, ensuring seamless integration of delivered models within the receiving architecture and digital engineering platform Must be able to maintain a restricted badge and work on site 4+ days per week Must have, or obtain within 3 months of start date, a current IAT Level II Certification (Security+ CE) Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications: Have an Object Management Group Certified Systems Modeling Professional - Model Builder Fundamental (OCSMP - MBF) certification Have an INCOSE (International Council on Systems Engineering) Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) certification Be able to provide technical and programmatic recommendations on the development, integration, and use of digital engineering and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) concepts and structures Have experience leading technical teams or projects
Compensation: Salary Range: $115,000 - $135,000 annually. Final compensation is based on experience, education, location, and applicable certifications.
