Overview
We are seeking a Linear Programming Engineer to join the Central Planning & Modeling Division. The division is responsible for optimizing crude allocation and the operations of global manufacturing facilities in order to maximize revenue, increase profitability, and capture international market opportunities. The division also acts as the LP gatekeeper for wholly owned refineries and the global MPIMS model, and maintains an integrated global planning model which is used for optimizing global crude allocation and exploration of new international markets and integration options. Your primary role is to consult on complex engineering and LP problems, review existing and new rigorous simulations in order to update or build up shift vectors for sub-models in the PIMS structure, while maintaining rigorous simulation accuracy to conduct LP backcasting and recommending improvements as required. This role will also have the opportunity to build a new grassroots refinery rigorous simulation, mentor and train less-senior LP engineers and process engineers, and provide specialized technical service in recognized engineering fields. Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be required to perform the following: Run the rigorous simulation in order to identify deviation from simulation and actual conditions. Run the wide refinery model after short Range Operating Model (SROP) optimization in order to identify operational opportunities in the refinery. Define data and work processes required to maintain and update rigorous simulation. Develop Non-Linear equations to reflect operational variables into the Process industry modeling system PIMS Advanced Optimization (AO) model. Keep the hybrid model for LP Engineers accurate. Work with process engineers in order to guarantee accurate simulation output and debottleneck constraints to maximize refinery benefit. Perform “back-casting” and issue a monthly report on the Rigorous Simulation gap along with required mitigations. Support stakeholders in order to create new models to evaluate new projects for Downstream business. Support ASSAY experts to calibrate the True Boiling Point (TBP) and cut points in order to reflect the actual column efficiency. Minimum Requirements
The successful candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field; a Master of Business Administration (MBA) or a relevant advanced degree is strongly preferred. Minimum of 9 years of professional experience in consulting and/or refinery industries, with an in-depth understanding of rigorous simulation for refinery processing units. Expertise in developing rigorous simulations to extract shift vectors and process objectives, with at least 7 years of experience in Aspen Technology’s HYSYS model or PETROSIM. Experience in developing rigorous simulations for hydrocracking, FCC, DHT, Catalytic, and Coker reforming units, and building a rigorous simulation model of a complete refinery (Wide Refinery Model). A thorough knowledge of engineering practices, economic principles, and calculation methods. Expert in international business and cross-cultural professional practices. Experience in developing integration between rigorous simulation models and ASPEN PIMS. Working environment Our high-performing employees are drawn by the challenging and rewarding professional, technical, and industrial opportunities we offer, and are remunerated accordingly. At Aramco, our people work on truly world-scale projects, supported by investment in capital and technology that is second to none. And because, as a global energy company, we are faced with addressing some of the world’s biggest technical, logistical, and environmental challenges, we invest heavily in talent development. We have a proud history of educating and training our workforce over many decades. Employees at all levels are encouraged to improve their sector-specific knowledge and competencies through our workforce development programs – one of the largest in the world.
