What will you be doing?
We are seeking a dynamic and versatile individual to join our team in a hybrid role that combines the responsibilities of a Manufacturing Engineer and Quality Engineer on our Second shift. This position plays a critical role in driving efficiency, maintaining product quality, and leading the evening production team. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and capable of making real-time decisions to support smooth operations during off-peak hours.
Shift Details: Second Shift Schedule:
Monday-Thursday, 12:00 PM - 10:00 PM] Must be flexible to support occasional extended hours or Friday coverage based on production needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Manufacturing Engineering (60%) Design and improve manufacturing processes, work cells, and line flow for efficiency. Monitor swing shift operations to identify bottlenecks or waste and drive process improvements. Implement Lean/6S initiatives to reduce downtime and improve productivity. Provide technical support for machines, tooling, and equipment during the swing shift.
Quality Engineering (40%) Ensure products manufactured during swing shift meet quality standards and specifications. Conduct in-shift inspections, audits, and quality verifications. Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions for any swing shift quality issues. Maintain accurate quality records and documentation throughout the shift.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience. 3+ years of combined experience in manufacturing, quality control, or production leadership. Previous experience working a swing shift or in a 2nd shift leadership role preferred. Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, quality systems, and process improvement methods. Effective communication and leadership skills, especially during off-hour shifts. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CAD software, and ERP systems.
Preferred Skills (Not Required): Certifications: Lean Six Sigma, CQE, or similar. Experience with machining, assembly, or fabrication environments. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Work Environment: Primarily based on the production floor during swing shift hours. Exposure to manufacturing equipment, noise, and shop activity. Must be able to stand, walk, and lift up to 40 lbs during shift hours.
