RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Art Director position is a multifaceted role that provides leadership and design expertise, as well as providing graphic support for: on-air products, digital display and streaming video, online and mobile applications, and social media.
You will work closely with the Creative Director on future planning and long-range goals. This position will drive the image of the brand and develop a cohesive, innovative look and tone to viewers and client initiatives across multiple platforms.
Foster a collaborative and creative team environment, working with team members to push boundaries and achieve creative excellence while maintaining a consistency of brand identity across all platforms and channels.
Design and execute all on-air, digital mediums, and print graphics and compositions for all the stations promotional activities and broadcasts.
You will work with WGN News Director, Production Director, and assigned Producers to develop infographics and news graphics for stations newscasts, locally created content, and WGN+ and digital streams.
Work with Creative Services Producers and Production teams to skillfully develop any needed graphics for promotions, campaigns, and executions.
To design and collaborate, as directed by Director, Creative Services, any promotional graphics and designs including digital display, streaming video, on-air stills and motion graphics, web promotions, print, outdoor advertising, and promotional campaigns including any collateral used by the sales department for presentations to advertisers and business-to-business communications.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires an undergraduate degree in graphic arts or equivalent experience.
Must be a hands-on motion graphics designer/animator with a portfolio/reel that reflects your skills.
Must be able to create digital designs and animation; evaluate graphic talent and provide leadership to graphic and motion artists.
Designs and animations will be developed using current state-of-the-art equipment and must be able to use graphic design and animation software to develop promotions and “sell” programming to viewers and advertisers.
Must be skilled in After Effects, Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator software and be skilled with Cinema 4D or like 3D software.
Must also have a keen sense of current standards in digital video, digital display, television, social media, and print design.
Requires 4-6 years’ experience with either: creating digital animations and designs, a television station or broadcast network, and/or Post-Production facility.

SALARY RANGE: $105,000 - $114,000 Annualized
