Position Overview
This is an outstanding opportunity to join Gastroenterology Associates, LLP in the newly created role of Chief Operating Officer (COO.) The COO will lead the strategic and operational management of GI Associates, in close collaboration with the physician partners and a high performing, quality focused senior leadership team. The COO will direct, administer, and coordinate day to day activities of the practice while ensuring alignment to the defined policies, goals and strategic objectives.
The ideal candidate for COO will lead this private practice specialty group through the complexities of a transforming healthcare marketplace while maintaining focus on delivering high quality patient care. The newly appointed leader will bring strong business acumen skills to the practice, and have a high learning agility. They will have demonstrated the ability to be responsive and adaptive in a rapidly evolving, fast paced environment.The COO will support a culture of strong performance, accountability, and teamwork amongst our highly valued clinical and administrative staff. Additionally, the COO will collaborate and forge productive relationships with external partners and stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities
Accountable for the daily management and optimization of the clinical and administrative operations across multiple office locations in Erie and Niagara counties
Partner with the Chief Financial Officer to ensure the financial health of the practice by developing appropriate revenue and budgetary goals with performance metrics to achieve targets; leverage strong business acumen and analytical skills to identify trends with timely responses
Maintain a current and accurate sense of the local, regional and national healthcare markets, identifying potential growth and business development opportunities that align to the mission and vision of the practice; Sense change with clarity, and respond appropriately to the dynamic marketplace
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation by leveraging critical thinking skills and creative problem solving to drive operational excellence; strong focus on patient satisfaction, high quality of care to patients, staff engagement and development, and organizational financial performance
Cultivate strong and productive professional relationships with peers, staff, and physician partners through collaboration and teamwork to effectively support the achievement of the organizational goals, as well as the short and long term strategic objectives
Confidently collaborate with external stakeholders throughout the community, demonstrating professionalism and high ethical standards in this forward facing leadership position
Ensure that processes and systems are in compliance with all healthcare regulations, and consistently monitor the evolving environment for ongoing regulatory changes
Demonstrate competence and skill, as well as intellectual curiosity, in emerging healthcare technologies that will potentially impact practice operations, patient information data exchange, and the overall health ecosystem

Strong business acumen and high financial acuity to partner with the Chief Financial Officer to ensure sustainable revenue to support both operations and growth
Proven ability to successfully plan, implement and manage change, including leading others through the change
Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead teams through competing priorities to deliver successful operational and financially sustainable results
Excellent communication skills with a proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with thought leaders and partners across the marketplace
Influence and collaborate with others internally throughout the organization, as well as externally with various stakeholders
Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) and the utilization of the EMR data to identify trends, strengths, and areas of opportunity
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or closely related field required. Master’s degree in healthcare administration, or business administration is preferred
Ten (10) years of previous experience in healthcare administration with at least five (5) years as an executive or senior level leader in a complex healthcare operation, preferably in a large medical practice or ambulatory setting
Knowledge of the local healthcare marketplace is strongly preferred, with established relationships across healthcare sectors and with various stakeholders and leaders within the community
