Voyatek is seeking applicants to occupy the position of Systems Administrator (Linux/Unix) within our NYC Administration for Children's Services team. Key Responsibilities
Managing and maintaining all Oracle Unix/Linux infrastructure systems. Interacting with Oracle DBA and WebLogic Systems Administrators to ensure systems are up and running smoothly. Planning, designing, installing, configuring, securing, maintaining, and supporting all Linux infrastructure systems. Analyzing, monitoring the resource utilization, and tuning the performance of the operating system and associated components. Developing, validating, and implementing an overall strategy to patch server environments. Assisting the network security team in monitoring operating system security. Ensuring all changes to the environment adheres to established Change Management policies. Maintaining disaster recovery configurations for Linux systems. Performing file systems backup and testing recovery plans. Administering, monitoring, and troubleshooting HA server environment run on Oracle Exadata. Providing technical assistance to application database administrators. Evaluating new systems and applications requirements. Setting up and monitoring scheduled batch jobs. Setting up and monitoring system alerts. Liaise with Oracle and other vendors to troubleshoot technical issues. Following communications protocol for system failures/outages and filing incident reports. Escalating major hardware/software problems to senior IT staff. Responding to Service Desk tickets for technical support. Maintaining inventory of UNIX/Linux hardware and software assets. Available to work after hours and weekends as needed. Qualifications
Preferably 6-8 years' experience as an Oracle Linux system administrator managing a large scale of UNIX environment. Working knowledge to install, configure & troubleshoot: Linux, Unix operating systems, LDOMS, zfs file systems, and zones on prem and different cloud services environments. Experience in Shell scripting. Supporting and troubleshooting networking services and protocols to support Linux/Unix environment. Configuring and managing Oracle virtual technology: LDOMS, Zones/containers. Supporting Oracle Applications Server, WebLogic, and Oracle RDBMS in/Linux operating systems. Configuring and managing Oracle Storage Area Network (SAN), Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM), and Oracle Cluster File System (OCFS). Experience in Symantec NetBackup and VEEAM for file systems backup and recovery plans. Knowledge of approaches, tools and techniques for recognizing and resolving technical (hardware, software, application) problems. Strong interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask and perform in a high-paced/high-pressure environment. Ability to work independently or within a group to solve complex problems. Ability to communicate with different levels of the organization. Strong team player with service-oriented attitude and customer focus. The wage range for this role reflects the wide array of factors considered in compensation decisions.
