Join an amazing team of telecommunication professionals! Bluebird is a dynamic growing company in need of a Network Engineer (3rd shift)to be a part of a collaborative team. This is a full-time, benefit eligible position. All of us at Bluebird work hard to meet objectives for the organization and live the mission and values of this growing company to meet a common goal.
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Network Engineer I - 3rd Shift is an overnight position to plan and implement network changes in controlled maintenance windows while assuring proper integrity and reliability Bluebird's optical DWDM transport and routed Internet Protocol platforms. In addition to implementing changes into the Network Elements, the position also requires the ability to troubleshoot and correct any anomalies that arise from the newly implemented network modifications. The position also provides Tiered support to Bluebird's front line Network Operations Center team.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• 5 to 7 years in Telecommunications/IP-MPLS-Ethernet environment or equivalent Technical Training.
• Experience in analysis and design of transport networks, LAN and WAN data networks, and/or network management systems to support voice and data services.
• Experience with equipment configuration programming.
• College/Technical School degree or equivalent work experience
• Metro Ethernet Forum Carrier Ethernet 2.0 certification (MEF CE 2.0), preferred.
• Nokia (Alcatel-Lucent) NRS-I / Cisco CCNA certification (or higher) of equivalent experience, preferred.
• Working knowledge of DWDM and SONET telecommunications transmission systems, preferred.
• Knowledge of MetaSwitch or similar Class-4 tandem provisioning and translations, preferred.
• Knowledge of Microwave RF Transmission Technology, preferred.
• Knowledge of other conventional telecommunications equipment functions, applications, and configurations, preferred.
• Working knowledge of Internet Protocols version's 4 & 6 and familiar with DDoS detection methods, preferred.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Ability to work hours that consist of four 10-hour workdays per week on 3rd shift in addition to overtime, call-ins, weekends, and/or holidays.
• Self-motivated and the ability to make independent decisions based on policies, practices & project requirements.
• Strong knowledge of PC and software applications.
• Strong oral and written communications skills.
• Strong technical aptitude for new protocols and technologies with the ability to provide technical support and direction.
• Customer focused with a desire to exceed expectations.
• Multi-task oriented while maintaining composure in a demanding work environment.
Valid state driver's license.
