Role Overview We seek a Head of Quality Assurance to architect, lead, and continuously scale our QA function across multi-tribe engineering teams in a regulated fintech environment. This role directly impacts Paysera’s product reliability, regulatory compliance, and delivery velocity. You will set measurable standards, drive automation, and mentor QA leadership, ensuring that quality is not just delivered, but measured and improved at scale. Key Responsibilities Own and evolve the QA department’s strategy, aligning with business objectives and regulatory demands. Develop, document, and roll out QA policies, standards, and frameworks organization-wide. Team Leadership & Development Directly manage and mentor QA Leads and Senior QA Engineers across at least 40+ department members. Chair the QA Council - facilitate regular sessions, set agendas, and drive cross-tribe collaboration and alignment. Define and implement career development plans, competency matrices, and growth frameworks for QA professionals. Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of test automation frameworks (API, UI, performance) using tools such as Selenium and Playwright in languages like Python, PHP, or Java. Integrate and monitor automated tests within CI/CD pipelines (GitLab). Evaluate, select, and standardize the use of testing tools and test environments to maximize coverage and efficiency. Define, track, and continuously improve QA metrics (defect escape rate, automation coverage, regression duration, etc.). Ensure consistent test and release standards across all product teams. Regularly review QA activities and outcomes with engineering, product, and compliance stakeholders. Champion and implement generative AI solutions within QA workflows (test generation, risk analysis, defect prediction). Foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning within the QA function. Serve as the QA escalation point - lead root cause analysis and resolution for major incidents or systemic quality issues. Advise on regulatory and security testing requirements, ensuring full compliance and best practices. Proactively communicate QA strategy, progress, and risks to all levels (including C-level, engineering, and product leadership). Influence decision-making through data-driven insights and industry benchmarks.
Minimum Requirements:
2–3+ years’ QA leadership experience in a regulated fintech, digital banking, or payments company. Directly managed/mentored QA teams of 20+ engineers/testers (across tribes/squads/locations). 3+ years designing/maintaining automation frameworks (Selenium, Playwright, Codeception, Behat) in Python, JavaScript, Java, or PHP. Integrated automation in API and UI testing and CI/CD workflows. Set up and maintained large-scale test environments; evaluated/selected testing tools. Implemented and monitored key QA KPIs; deployed performance management frameworks for teams. Chaired or led QA councils/communities, fostering cross-team alignment and knowledge sharing. Designed and institutionalized QA standards and competency models for teams. Integrated generative AI tools/approaches into QA workflows. Managed/influenced cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority. Fluent in English (B2+); excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Agile/Lean SDLC and continuous delivery/test practices. Compensation & Agreement
