Description
Northland Controls is seeking a well-qualified Application Engineer, located in Rochester, NY. Secondary location considerations for Reston, VA or Austin, TX.
The Application Engineer will be responsible for providing technical support and systems maintenance to ensure the smooth operation of access control, CCTV, and associated security systems within regional deployments. This role involves supporting local alarm centers, biometric systems, and key management solutions, ensuring they meet Northland's standards for performance and reliability.

Qualifications
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage complex technical tasks.
-Lenel Master Certification Preferred
-Experience with Milestone CCTV, Alcatraz AI Biometrics, Keywatcher, Traka, HID SAFE
- Proven track record in supporting regional access control and CCTV systems.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in an equivalent role within the security systems industry.
- Strong background in installation, commissioning, and support of access control and CCTV solutions.
- Experience with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Basic troubleshooting of IT networks, LAN/WAN, and cloud-based systems is highly desirable.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive support for regional security systems, including access control and CCTV.
- Program, commission, and conduct installation reviews as required.
- Deploy and support local alarm center workstation solutions.
- Maintain workstation images and provide support for peripheral devices, including biometrics and key management solutions.
- Ensure smooth transition of sites from installation to live monitoring.
- Complete remote site sanity checks and oversee site handovers.
- Resolve systems-related tickets through the service desk.
- Contribute to upgrade and maintenance programs.
- Provide out-of-hours support as required.
- Deliver clear documentation and support handover materials.
Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Education & Experience
- Certifications in access control or CCTV systems (e.g., Lenel OnGuard, Milestone) are highly desirable.
- Experience with biometric and key management solutions is preferred.
- Professional security certifications (e.g., ASIS, CPP) are desirable but not required.
Travel
Up to 20% regional travel may be required.
Work Authorization
Must be authorized to work in the US or applicable region.
