Creates and maintains databases for test, development, and production environments to support the business. Analyzes, tests, and implements physical database design. Documents environment and maintains current patches. Ensures data recovery, maintenance, data integrity, audits current environments, and provides capacity planning. Provides technical knowledge working with system administrators, technical managers, developers, and architects. Position: Sr. Oracle Database Administrator Xcel Energy has a Senior DBA position to join our OT DBA team in downtown Minneapolis, MN. The Senior Database Administrator primarily supports the database environments for OT Energy Services, including Distribution, Transmission, and Nuclear business areas, as well as other regulated application databases. The role involves partnering with application support teams on projects of various sizes and durations. The DBA serves as a diagnostician and solution provider for data, information, and business process analysis. They are responsible for providing technical expertise in specific data domains and incorporating data governance into daily activities. They also provide expertise in data integration, insights, trends, and solution recommendations to enable data-driven decisions, collaborating with analysts to extract, interpret, and perform advanced analytics. Essential Responsibilities Experience with SQL Server Database Administration, including backup and recovery, performance tuning, and business continuity. Experience with Oracle Database Administration, including backup and recovery, performance tuning, and business continuity. Consultation: Work cross-organizationally to drive adoption of standard tools and improve data integrity. Ensure IT solutions follow sound data management practices. Provide subject matter expertise and consultation on data aspects of new or changing IT solutions. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in technology, science, business, or related field, or 8 years of equivalent experience. Strong communication skills, effective across organizational levels and skill sets. Strong relationship management and collaboration skills, with a track record of working as a team across organizations to drive innovation and results. Excellent problem-solving, data governance, and analytical skills. Experience with distributed computing, data visualization, data architecture, statistical and predictive modeling. Experience with machine learning. Experience designing, developing, and delivering reporting solutions and providing insights to the business. Ability to identify and recommend BI solutions to meet business needs. Preferred Requirements Strong technical knowledge of SQL Server database administration for versions 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2022. Strong technical knowledge of Oracle database administration for versions 12c, 19c, and 21c. Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), reporting services. Experience with database replication technologies such as mirroring, log shipping, and replication. Experience with Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM), RAC, and Data Guard technology. Experience with major version upgrades of Oracle and SQL Server. Proficiency in T-SQL, PL/SQL, Shell Scripting, PowerShell Scripting. Experience with Windows/SQL Server clustering and AlwaysOn Failover Cluster. Experience managing PostgreSQL and MySQL databases.
