Head Start POSITION TITLE: HEAD START HEALTH AND NUTRTITION SPECIALIST
LOCATION: LINCOLN
POSTING DATE: JULY 31 2025

HOURS: 37.5 hours per week
DAYS: . 200 days per year, August to June
SALARY SCHEDULE: Rate of pay: Health & Nutrition Specialist. Classified Level 9 at $24.75 per hour,
START DATE : August 7, 2025
JOB SUMMARY: The Health & Nutrition Specialist is primarily responsible for assisting to promote health education programs, services, and resources that benefit learners ages 3-5. This includes implementing health and wellness programs, healthy menus and food experiences, and securing gross motor equipment. Provide oversite of the Head Start Food Services and all CACFP paperwork. Includes supervision of staff. Involves regular communication with SD #25 Dietician about menus and substitutions, and completing all required paperwork.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Education: Bachelors or advanced degree in public health, nursing, health education, dietetics, or health administration.
2.Experience in tracking and maintaining health and nutrition services.
DESIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Prior Head Start Preschool work experience.
2. Experience working with diverse families in low-income communities.
3. Bilingual in English and Spanish.
4. Experience developing and participating in group work.
5. Experience speaking before staff or community groups.
6. Experience with CACFP program
7. Familiar with resources in the medical/dental community.
HEALTH QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Head Start Program Performance Standards require an initial health examination for each staff member and a periodic re-examination as recommended by their health care provider.
2. Completion of a yearly Communicable Diseases Questionnaire as part of Head Start Program Performance Standards requirements and HMHSAC.
3.CPR/First Aid Certification within 90 days of employment
