Reach for the Stars After School Program
Whittier City School District sites:
A Group Leader is responsible for supervising a group of 20-23 elementary-aged students (K-5th grades). Responsibilities include signing in students, distributing supper, and assisting with activities.
Physical Demands
Ability to see and hear for observing and regulating student behavior Stand and walk for extended periods Occasionally run for brief periods Cope with stress and emergency situations Frequently climb stairs Occasionally exert 10-20 pounds to lift, carry, push, or pull objects Be able to bend, climb, kneel, and balance to assist students Perceive sounds, near and far vision, depth perception; provide oral information; operate work-related equipment; handle various materials Prolonged exposure to weather elements and noise - Share a group with another Group Leader - Be on-call as needed depending on availability and site requirements Location
Within nine elementary and two middle schools in the Whittier City School District Qualifications
A.A. degree or 48 college units in a related field, or pass the Group Leader test Knowledge of behavior management strategies Previous experience working with school-age children Good interpersonal skills TB Test and CPR certification required
