Job Description: Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia's capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. Reynolds Community College is seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Part-Time Library Assistant to support library operations during afternoon and evening hours. This position will staff service desks, provide directional and informational assistance to students, oversee study room use, shelve library materials, and assist with special projects as needed.
The role includes, but is not limited to the following duties: Provide front-line service at the library's information desk during afternoon and evening shifts. Monitor and manage study room usage in accordance with library policies and procedures. Perform routine circulation tasks, including checking materials in and out, processing renewals, and retrieving requested items. Respond to general questions and provide directional or informational assistance as needed. Clearly explain and enforce library policies, reporting any security or emergency issues promptly to the Head Librarian. Maintain accurate daily usage and service statistics. Assist users with the online catalog, electronic databases, and other library software in the absence of professional staff. Provide basic instruction on the use of library equipment, including photocopiers and printers. Shelve library materials and ensure items are organized and accessible. Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): Knowledge of library policies, procedures, and standard practices. Experience with core library functions, including circulation and stacks maintenance. Proficiency using automated circulation systems and Microsoft Office applications. Ability to assist patrons in locating materials and resources. Strong independent judgment and decision-making skills. Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and respectfully with diverse populations. Additional Considerations:
Experience in a community college or other education library.
