What You'll Do:
We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for accurately processing employee payroll, ensuring timely and precise distribution of wages, and maintaining meticulous records of hours worked, deductions, and taxes. Your expertise will be essential in navigating complex payroll regulations and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and company policies. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and excellent communication abilities to liaise effectively with both internal stakeholders and external agencies.
Job Duties:
- Process payroll accurately and on time, including calculating wages, bonuses, overtime, and deductions.
- Maintain detailed records of employee work hours, salaries, benefits, and tax withholdings.
- Calculate and deduct federal, state, and local taxes, as well as other deductions such as insurance premiums, retirement contributions, and garnishments.
- Ensure compliance with relevant employment laws, tax regulations, and company policies.
- Generate and distribute paychecks or direct deposits to employees.
- Handle payroll-related inquiries and discrepancies from employees, managers, and external agencies.
- Prepare payroll reports for management and accounting purposes, including financial statements and tax filings.
- Assist with internal and external audits of payroll records.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws, labor regulations, and payroll processing technologies.
- Provide training and support to employees on payroll procedures and systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues or errors in payroll processing.
- Communicate effectively with HR personnel, managers, and employees regarding payroll-related matters.
- Maintain confidentiality of payroll information and exercise discretion in handling sensitive data.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in payroll processing or related roles.
- Proficiency with payroll software such as Dayforce, ADP, Workday
- Strong understanding of payroll principles, tax regulations, and labor laws. Familiarity with federal, state, and local tax laws required.
- Analytical mindset with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills for interaction with employees and external agencies.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve payroll-related issues efficiently.
- Preferred certifications include Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC).
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive payroll information.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to pass post offer drug test.
- $28-$32/hourly depending on qualifications & experience
