Locums Hematology/Oncology Nurse Practitioner - Silver Spring, MD Assignment Dates: 8/11/2025 (or as soon as credentialed) - Ongoing Coverage Need
- Coverage due to recent resignation of full-time Hematology/Oncology provider
- Support for part-time 0.5 FTE Hem-Onc physician Position Details
- Practice Setting: Outpatient (with some inpatient consults)
- Schedule: Option 1 - M/W/F, 8-hour days; Option 2 - M-F, 8-hour days
- Patient Population: Adult and Geriatric
- Practice Mix: 25% Hematology, 75% Oncology
- Average Daily Volume: 10 outpatients, 2 inpatients
- Support Staff: Patient navigator, social worker, MA, practice manager
- Physicians on Site: 0.5 FTE Hem-Onc, 1 Breast Surgeon, 1 Surgical Oncologist, 2 Radiation Oncologists
- Shared space with Radiation Treatment Center
- No chemotherapy administered on-site (infusion center 2 miles away)
- Patient Population: Significant Spanish-speaking population (interpreters available)
- Procedures: Intracavitary and intrathecal chemotherapy, FNA/biopsy, management of VAD/CV catheters
- Duties: Participation on tumor board, ordering tests and images, prescribing, blood bank responsibilities
- EMR: Epic
- Credentialing: Standard 3 months; emergency privileges available after initial application
- Travel: Flight, hotel, rental car, mileage reimbursed for non-local providers (Airbnb or extended stays encouraged for long-term coverage)
- Local candidates preferred
- Preferred lodging: Marriott Courtyard, Silver Spring, MD Submissions Requirements
- Active Maryland license
- Active Maryland DEA and CDS
- Board Certified
- BLS or ACLS
- Clean malpractice and background
- Note preference for 3 days/week or 5 days/week in submission Skill Requirements
- Outpatient hematology/oncology management
- Inpatient consults for hematology/oncology patients
- Chemotherapy administration (intracavitary, intrathecal)
- FNA/biopsy procedures
- Management of vascular access devices and central venous catheters Why This Role?
