Pre-Analytical Assistant I Schedule:
Tuesday - Saturday, 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM Location:
5850 ROGERDALE ROAD, Houston TX 77072 Basic Purpose The Pre-Analytical Assistant I provides essential support in the Technical Operations Department by performing routine specimen processing tasks to ensure quality and timely delivery to clinical testing areas.
Key Responsibilities Sort, rack, centrifuge, and aliquot specimens accurately and efficiently
Pick up, deliver, and store specimens in accordance with department protocols
Operate sorter equipment in archive mode (if trained)
Identify and address issues with specimen types, missing data, and test orders
Ensure compliance with specimen handling and regulatory standards
Accurately complete required documentation and maintain legibility
Adhere to department attendance, punctuality, and performance guidelines
Collaborate in a team environment to support workload, including weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call shifts
Cross-train in additional functions within Tech Ops to support department flexibility
Maintain cleanliness and 5S standards in the work area
Perform other duties as assigned
Performance Expectations Meet department quality and productivity benchmarks within 6 months of training
Demonstrate an understanding of how Tech Ops and Specimen Processing support lab testing
Communicate effectively across all levels of staff
Exhibit sound judgment, adaptability, and composure in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Basic computer and data entry proficiency
Ability to follow safety, compliance, and work process procedures
Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and maneuver specimen carts
Willingness to work flexible hours as needed
Preferred Qualifications Background in healthcare or laboratory setting
Familiarity with medical terminology and clinical specimen types
Prior experience in production or high-throughput environments
Knowledge of mainframe computer systems
