As an Inspector at KSM, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and accuracy of customer parts manufactured by the company. This position involves performing visual and manual inspection duties using standardized methods and procedures, visually inspecting components and utilizing precision measuring instruments. This role may also include programming and measuring parts on the InspecVision optical comparator equipment, or the Faro Arm. Key Responsibilities
Inspection Duties Perform inspection tasks on a variety of custom parts, sheet metal fabrications, weldments, powder-painted and assembled components Complete inspection reports as directed; sign off BOM; maintain inspection logs Inspect rejected parts to verify reasons for reject and possibility of salvage rework; may make minor fit up or repair of defective parts Visual Inspection Conduct thorough visual inspections of parts to identify any defects, discrepancies or imperfections Ensure that components meet the specified quality standards and match the design requirements of the customer prints or models Precision Measurement Use a variety of precision measuring instruments (caliper, micrometer, tape, InspecVision, Faro Arm, etc.) to check dimensions and tolerances of components Accurately record measurement data and maintain detailed inspection reports. Print and Model Verification Compare inspected components against customer prints, models or other technical specifications Verify that dimensions and features align within the provided engineering documentation and tolerances. Quality Documentation Document inspection results, including any deviations or non-conformities observed during the inspection process Communicate findings to relevant personnel (production, engineering, supervisors, management) and work collaboratively to address quality issues. Provide feedback to improve manufacturing processes and prevent recurring quality issues Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education or certifications in quality control is a plus. Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly in sheet metal fabrication or similar industry Familiarity with precision measuring instruments and the ability to interpret engineering drawings Attention to detail, accuracy and a commitment to maintaining high-standards Strong communication skills to effectively convey inspection results and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
