AWS is seeking a talented and experienced Principal Data Scientist to join our Consumer Experience team. This is a key technical leadership role, and we are looking for someone passionate about tackling large-scale data challenges and driving innovation in ML/AI data science practices that address real-world customer issues.
Reporting to the Director of Research and Analytics, this role is crucial for enhancing AWS's analytical capabilities through emerging technologies, establishing best practices in data science, and collaborating with stakeholders to deepen understanding of the AWS experience.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working in complex, large-scale data and analytics environments, with a focus on developing improved data science practices, preferably within cloud computing settings. Proficiency with Machine Learning and advanced analytics techniques is essential, along with the ability to communicate these concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders. The role requires both technical expertise and strong leadership and communication skills.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing thought leadership and technical guidance on data science strategies.
* Partnering with product, engineering, and design teams to develop and deploy innovative data products.
* Leading the adoption of Generative AI and ML-based approaches and spearheading proof of concept initiatives for AI-driven customer solutions.
* Advancing analytics techniques, including statistical analysis and complex data mining, to deliver faster, deeper insights that improve the AWS user experience.
* Building production-ready analytics solutions to inform business decisions.
* Communicating complex ideas effectively across all organizational levels.
* Innovating with new approaches and sharing technical solutions and product ideas within AWS.
* Mentoring and guiding the data science and analytics community.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 8+ years of experience in data science roles, including statistical analysis, modeling, and managing analytical projects end-to-end.
- 5+ years of experience in machine learning, natural language processing, and deep learning.

Our compensation reflects labor costs across U.S. markets, ranging from $145,800 to $294,700 annually, based on location and experience.
