Approve all transmission outage Clearance Requests and develop Clearance Orders for Transmission system facilities while maintaining the reliability of the transmission system.
Develop and analyze power system models to ensure the reliability of the transmission system.
Develop, enforce, and maintain the Transmission System Operations procedures, manuals and guides.
Develop and issue the long-term transmission outage schedule.
Advise real time operating personnel during emergency conditions.
Job Scope JOB SCOPE The Prin. Specialist Operations' actions have a significant and direct impact on transmission system reliability and public and employee safety. The Prin. Specialist - Operations is responsible for the development of procedures that govern the day-to-day normal operations and emergency operations used by the control room. The Prin. Specialist - Operations have direct interaction with internal and external customers such as: T&S, DSO, Exelon Nuclear, Exelon Power, Interconnected Transmission Owners, major transmission customers, Regional Transmission Organizations (RTO's) and regulatory agencies such as PJM, Reliability First Corporation (RFC) and NERC. Consequences of the Prin. Specialist - Operations actions can have a significant financial impact on the corporation due to transmission system congestion, equipment damage and loss of customer satisfaction. The Prin Operations Specialist will have the role of being a subject matter expert on the EMS Support Group (ESG) team. ESG creates and maintains the digital representation of the transmission grid. The team is split into two core groups: database specialists and engineers. The database team creates the framework for communication with field equipment and builds and maintains One-Line Displays. The engineering team takes this framework and develops an electric model of the grid. Depending on the candidates background this could be database and display expertise or power flow and advanced application expertise. The Prin Operations Specialist will perform tasks in line with their background. An engineering background would include tasks such as Provide real time engineering / operations support to System Operations staff focused on State Estimator and Contingency Analysis solutions.
Provide quarterly PJM model updates.
Update, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the Transmission Security Management (TSM) and Dispatcher Training Simulator (DTS) applications.
Edit the Energy Management System (EMS) database with applicable TSM, point changes, ratings changes, D-curve updates.
A database specialist back ground would include tasks such as Provide real time database and system support to System Operations staff focused on SCADA.
Complete database work in the Energy Management System (EMS).
Complete display creation and edits in the Energy Management System (EMS).
Support and Troubleshoot application issues for the Energy Management System (EMS).
The Prin Operations Specialist will also have responsibilities for project management on upcoming projects which the EMS Support Group will be engaged including, but not limited to, the EMS full system upgrade. Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Business or related technical field and 7-10 years' experience in the operation, planning, design or maintenance of high voltage electrical equipment, OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, 9-12 years of relevant experience is required.
Demonstrated ability to analyze complex problems and develop alternative solutions and strategies.
Ability to represent the company and negotiate with other departments throughout Exelon, PJM, Generation Operators, Transmission Operators and transmission customers.
Demonstrated ability to influence, direct, and negotiate.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Qualified Transmission Dispatcher
Knowledge of transmission system equipment and start-up testing Knowledge of transmission customer interconnection requirements
Knowledge of power system analysis
Knowledge of protective relaying and other substation controls
PJM certified
NERC certified
Knowledge of the Energy Management System advanced applications
Experience with EMS, SCADA
Benefits Benefits Annual salary will vary based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $114,400.00/Yr. – $157,300.00/Yr.
