Principal Transportation Engineer/Planner

SLR Consulting As our new Principal level Transportation Engineer or Planner, you will work closely with our multi-disciplinary team of professionals and be a crucial leader in private development/traffic impact work - helping grow our Smart City, micro-mobility, TDM, Safe Streets, and multi-modal activities.
The position may be in one of our office locations below:
Cheshire, Connecticut New Haven, Connecticut Boston, Massachusetts
We are SLR Consulting (US), a 500+ coast-to-coast team of advisory, environmental/engineering, and regulatory professionals. We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of over 30 advisory, technical environmental, and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability. We are Making Sustainability Happen.
As our new Principal level Transportation Engineer or Planner, you will play an important role on a team whose work is essential to achieving this goal.

Competitive total compensation package including medical, dental, orthodontia, vision, FSA/HSA, generous PTO accrual, 10 paid holidays, 401(k) retirement account with company matching program, company paid life insurance, short & long term disability insurance, and employee assistance program. The salary range for this position is $115,000 - $150,000. Final agreed upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location. Full-time, permanent role with opportunities for professional growth and advancement

Winning work and identifying future opportunities Manage client relationships Collaborating across disciplines Public outreach and engagement with strong communication and presentation skills Developing creative yet realistic solutions Staff management Meeting project schedules on-budget Prepare proposals and respond to RFPs/RFQs
Qualifications/Education/Memberships
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Transportation Engineering, Planning, Urban Planning, or related field 15+ years of increasingly responsible professional experience Professional Engineer or Professional Transportation Planner Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to present and convey information clearly and concisely Familiarity with local, state, and federal guidelines/standards, policies, and procedures Desire to be on the forefront of the evolving transportation planning field Familiarity with emerging best-practices/guidelines in transportation, smart cities, micro-mobility, and urban transportation Valid driver’s license Willing to travel by airplane and car, including overnight travel Critical thinking and strong communication skills (graphic, written, and interpersonal) Efficient, thorough, detail-oriented, and dedicated to quality work Ability to establish, manage, maintain and grow client relationships Ability to work in a collaborative team environment across numerous disciplines
