The Control System Engineering team engages on all aspects of high-level support for the control systems within the Amazon FC's. This work takes the form of direct field engagement for launch and existing facilities, commissioning, on-call, continuous improvement, change management, project management, training, security, infrastructure and systems administration. In this role, you will drive strategic partnerships with key stakeholders including Operations, field RME, Process Engineering, Operations Engineering, World-Wide Design and other engineering entities. Your team delivers robust lifecycle management approaches, that are scalable, reduce manual work and overall reduce the cost of ownership of the systems you support. You will deliver this through the use of statistics and data analytics, structured problem solving, implementation of global support mechanisms, system performance monitoring tools, identification and dissemination of best practices. In this role, you will develop and implement standard operating procedures, optimal code/parameter sets, performance metrics, and feedback mechanisms to ensure reliability and operational efficiency of our equipment.
nKey job responsibilities
nUnderstand and troubleshoot material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers, industrial networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, Profinet, ASi), motor control systems, servo drives, frequency drives, and electrical distribution systems.
nProgramming and source coding for in-house built solutions based in PLC or PC controllers and SCADA/OEE platforms.
nDevelop solutions related to Automation Systems
nProject Management (PM) of large-scale initiatives that will require work activities coordination of site-based Automation Engineers (AE) to accomplish goals of the business.
nApply Subject Matter Expertise (SME) on troubleshooting and dive deeps for engineering issues, supporting local teams to investigate the root cause and planning actions to eliminate/mitigate the downtime of critical assets.
nCreate, optimize and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for control the efficiency, availability and quality of the machines, generating reports for improvement purposes.
nManage and deal with Vendors to plan and coordinate tickets resolution for local teams or network wide issues.
nProvide technical guidance and decision making for collaboration projects or initiatives with other Amazon teams, being a key stakeholder in supporting technical and major network support requests.
nEnsure remote troubleshooting capability is available on a rotational system to provide 24/7/365 support for all hardware or controls software systems within the sites locations.
nAbility to travel up to 80%
nAbout the team
nWill work on a team focused on improving Equipment performance and department standards in low trending ARS/iXD and other BU Sites in North America, including the new launch sites.
nBasic Qualifications
nBS in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related discipline or BS/BA with 4+ years' experience in maintenance or 2+ years Amazon experience
nExperience leading change management in multiple site environments
nExperience commissioning or accepting equipment from integrator
nExperience troubleshooting and implementing corrective actions
n5+ years' experience working in industrial controls and automation
nExhibit knowledge and experience with the major MHE integrators
nExperience driving goals with minimal day-to-day supervision
nPreferred Qualifications
nExposure to Lean Concepts, TOC, layout design, cost/benefit analysis, labor productivity analysis (time studies, standardized work), safety/ergonomic/human factors.
nMBA or other Master's degree and/or Six Sigma Black Belt Certification a plus
nManufacturing or complex industry experience leading Controls

nOur compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $121,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $193,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
