The Student Conservation Associationprovidesan array of corps and crew programming across the country. The Massachusetts Conservation Corps (MACC) is a 6-month AmeriCorps program that trains young adults in conservation and leadership skills through hands-on service at state parks and public lands throughout Massachusetts.To this end, MACC continuesits27-yearpartnershipwith the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation(DCR). Itoperatesas an AmeriCorps program, allowing crew members to dedicate a term of service while gaining experience in the field. Thecoordinatoris a full-time, hybrid/remotestaff position.The salaryrangefor this position is$1,923$2,115bi-weekly. The Program Coordinator position ensures the technical, logistical, and administrative tasks associated with executing SCA’s various programs in the MACC portfolio are completed. This person ensures Corps Members and Project Leaders are equipped for program delivery andcomply withcurriculum and AmeriCorps mandates, safety controls, logistical service/program delivery needs, and mandatory internal record-keeping. This position reports to the Program Manager-NewEngland andhas multiple direct reports at various levels of responsibilityand locations throughout Massachusetts. JOB DUTIES
TheProgram Coordinatorwill serve in6keyareas: Project planning and delivery. Supervision/Mentorship and support of Project Leaders and Members. Training and skills development for program members and project leaders, including Trail Construction & Maintenance,habitatmanagement,and Tool Use and Maintenance. Tool/Equipment Cache& vehiclemanagement, budget accountability, andpurchasing. External partner and community engagementas an SCA representative. Program Administrationincluding approval of timecards, filing incident reports, tracking program outcomes, and partner communication. Roles and Responsibilities ProjectPlanning & Delivery: Serve as the program’s primary liaison - schedule and manage rotating projectsin collaboration with service partners. Actively assess projectand environmentalriskstoensurea safe work environment. Serve as a technical adviser and project support in collaboration with the Program Manager. Directly superviseProject LeadersandCorps Members. Monitor and assessthe quality & technique of theprojectwork performedto assurepartner andSCA standards are met. Review and approve direct reports timesheetswithin timelines set by SCA. Responsible for modeling,facilitating, andfosteringan environment where every individual feels valued, supported, and empowered to contribute to their fullest potential. Ensureprogramsarealignedwith SCACore Values including Belonging&Connection, Collaboration, and Safety &Preparedness. Participation inongoingstafftrainingand professional development opportunities. Serve as part of the emergency response call tree for the program. Training & Skills Development: Assure Corps Members and Project Leaders are trained for the safe, proficient, and effective delivery of program service activities. Promote leadership development within the team and complete scheduled formal evaluations. Assist with SCA’s conservation service curriculum development, documentation, and implementation. Tool/Equipment Cache & Vehicles : Ensure the program equipment cache is organized, secured, inventoried, and compliant with SCA and partner guidelines. Assistin managing the acquisition, maintenance, and coordination of program vehicles. Ensure program teams have allthe requiredtoolsand equipmentto complete service activities. External Engagement: Collaborate with program partners to develop, schedule,and implement project plansandsite visits. AssistProgram Managerin building relationships with communitypartners. Represent SCA at industry relevant conferences and events. Role model SCA mission and values to program partnersand the public. Program Administration: Assist Program Manager with administrative duties, such as financial reportingand tracking. Develop a tool and equipmentpurchaseplan that aligns with the budget. FacilitateregularevaluationsofProject Leaders andCorpsMembers. Report, track,and respond to incidentsin accordance withSCA policies and procedures. Stayupto datewithSCA and AmeriCorpspolicies,procedures, andotherrequirements. AssistProgram Managerwithdeveloping systems forongoing program quality and improvement.
