The Program Manager reports to the Senior Director of Extended Day Program (EDP) Operations and is responsible for supervising and evaluating activities for Club members across assigned sites. This role oversees daily site operations, staff development, implementation of BGCA programming, and training to ensure high-quality youth experiences.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversees Extended Day Program (EDP) sites and is directly responsible for supervising Youth Development Professionals (YDPs). Leads the implementation of BGCSA curricula across all designated HISD EDP sites.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Implementation & Planning Implement Boys & Girls Clubs curricula with fidelity, ensuring alignment with BGCSA standards. Develop and follow detailed lesson plans that support high-quality youth engagement. Manage daily and weekly program schedules to ensure timely delivery of activities. Equip program sites with all required materials and track supply usage; submit inventory needs to the Senior Director. Order, organize, and maintain programming supplies to support continuous delivery.
Staff Leadership & Support Train and coach Youth Development Professionals (YDPs) to deliver engaging, age-appropriate programming. Provide ongoing job-based training on curriculum, classroom management, and safety protocols. Monitor YDP readiness and confirm staff are fully trained and prepared to lead programming at all assigned sites. Supervise daily staff attendance and communicate scheduling needs or gaps to the Senior Director. Support staff recruitment and reinforce cleaning, safety, and conduct protocols.
Data Collection & Reporting Collect and submit accurate attendance records, program participation data, and assessment results on a weekly basis. Prepare and submit monthly program reports and impact summaries to the Senior Director. Create and distribute Monthly Impact Reports to school district contacts and key stakeholders.
Communication & Collaboration Identify behavioral or learning challenges and recommend support strategies to YDPs. Maintain open communication with school administrators, parents, community partners, and volunteers. Promote daily program attendance and member recruitment through outreach and relationship-building.
Training, Policy & Compliance Attend required organizational trainings and serve as a subject matter expert in assigned curriculum areas. Align site programming and staff training with the annual calendar and grant deliverables in coordination with the Senior Director. Enforce BGCSA policies and procedures to ensure safe, consistent, and high-quality operations. Communicate site-level concerns, staffing issues, and program updates to the Senior Director daily.
Continuous Improvement Monitor program quality through observation, staff feedback, and member engagement; recommend adjustments to enhance outcomes.
Qualifications
HS Diploma required. An associate or bachelor's degree in education is highly preferred. 3+ years' experience implementing youth development programs Experience working with children Ability to organize and supervise members and staff in a safe environment Ability to transport oneself between site locations Must possess good character and decision-making skills. Must possess a sincere interest in children, maturity, self-control, and sound judgment. Must have a working knowledge of positive youth development and positive behavior Management skills. Must have the energy and ability to get things done within specific time frames. Must support the organization's mission, vision, and goals. Must uphold the policies and procedures of the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio. Possess record-keeping skills. Possess skills for communicating clearly and knowledgeably. Possess and demonstrate the ability to function objectively and reasonably in all aspects, including discipline.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to travel 100% to worksites in different types of weather and bend, climb, stretch, reach, and lean to make inspections. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
