Job Summary:
The ESL Coordinator is responsible for contributing to and communicating instructional vision and focused planning for improving ELL student achievement district-wide, ensuring that state laws and federal regulations are met and that English Learners are supported appropriately in their academic and language acquisition development.
Performance Responsibilities
Duties of this position include the following:
Planning & Preparation Utilizes knowledge of current trends in ESL instruction to plan and provide professional development.
Assesses the District curricular/assessment program and assists with the supervision and development of the MTSS process to meet all students' needs.
Through consultations with administrators and colleagues develops goals for instructional support that is highly appropriate to the needs of students and staff.
Actively seeks new core and supplemental resources from a range of sources to enrich teachers' skills in implementing effective instruction for English Learners.
Assist with preparing annual required Title III Consolidated Grant. Assist with maintaining and updating the District ELL Program database and district student information management system and statewide information systems; assist with
conducting quarterly reviews to ensure all data is accurate and consistent in all systems.
Assist with planning and coordinating the administration of district and state assessments. Plan and coordinate annual ACCESS ordering, testing administration, and dissemination of ACCESS score report to parents/guardians.
Assist with planning and facilitating ELL Department/PLC meetings. Other duties assigned by administration/supervisor. The Environment

Establish clear procedures for teachers to gain access to ELL instructional support for themselves and their students.
Effectively plan and utilize physical space for professional development and student learning.
Plan and manage the delivery of supplemental services (i.e. after school tutoring, summer school) as indicated in the Title III grant.
Delivery of Service
Collaborates with teachers in the design of instructional units and lessons. Engages teachers in learning new instructional skills. Engages with grade level or subject area colleagues in giving and receiving feedback on instruction, examining student work, analyzing evidence of instructional effectiveness, and sharing responsibility for student learning.Supports teachers through practices such as modeling, co-teaching, observing, and providing feedback. Reinforces the consistent use of culturally responsive and research-based strategies Locates, distributes, and inventories resources for teachers to support instructional improvement. Continually seek ways to improve the support program and make changes as needed in response to student, parent, or teacher input.

Qualifications
Professional Educator License with ESL or Bilingual (Spanish) approval Illinois PEL General Administrator required Minimum three years of K-8 ESL/Bilingual classroom teaching experience
