The Position
OPEN UNTIL FILLED; APPLICATIONS WILL BE REVIEWED EVERY TWO WEEKS.
Beltrami County is creating an eligibility list for a Custodian. The current opening is for one full-time, benefited position working Monday - Friday 1 pm to 9:30 pm. Responsibilities include interior and exterior cleaning to maintain a clean, comfortable and safe working environment for occupants. Tasks required include, but are not limited to: window cleaning, floor care, dusting, bathroom sanitation and other detailed custodial tasks.
Performs routine custodial and housekeeping duties, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Custodian Lead and Facility & Safety Director.
Preferred hiring salary range is $21.26 to $23.23 per hour with a full range of $21.26 to $26.92 per hour. Placement depends on factors such as qualifications, internal equity, market conditions, and applicable policy guidelines. Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience Minimum Requirements are:
High School Diploma or GED. Two years or more of commercial experience in custodial, building services or three years of other professional/residential cleaning experience. Valid MN driver's license. Essential Functions & Requirements

Essential Functions
Performs routine custodial and housekeeping duties required to maintain a clean and safe environment in assigned public buildings. Vacuums, sweeps, and mops offices and public areas; periodically strips, waxes, and buffs tile floors and shampoos carpets. Cleans and disinfects all bathrooms, drinking fountains, countertops, and holding cells. Dusts and cleans offices, courtrooms, elevators, and kitchens; cleans all office glass and entryways. Empties recycle bins; moves to transfer station; completes daily mail run. Shovels or plows snow from County properties; salts public walkways. Performs maintenance including minor repairs to cleaning equipment and changing light bulbs. Sets up conference rooms for meetings. Unloads chemical supplies and paper products. Interacts with management and staff in all buildings; unlocks and secures public buildings. Tracks custodial supplies and restocks as needed. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities General knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment and ability to use them safely and efficiently; ability to understand oral and written directions; ability to perform heavy manual work; ability to work independently; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
Physical Requirements This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 25 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, using hands and fingers, reaching with hands and arms, frequently requires walking, speaking or hearing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions and occasionally requires climbing or balancing; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work frequently requires exposure to wet, humid conditions (non-weather), working near moving mechanical parts and exposure to fumes or airborne particles and occasionally requires working in high, precarious places, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, exposure to outdoor weather conditions, exposure to the risk of electrical shock and exposure to blood borne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
