Position Description Summary
KKCS is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented
Construction Office Engineer
to support project delivery on the LAWA – ATMP Roadways program. This role requires a thorough understanding of construction administration processes, excellent documentation and communication skills, and the ability to effectively liaise with contractors, project managers, and client stakeholders. The Construction Office Engineer will report to and support the Construction Project Manager, working both independently and as part of a collaborative team. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing construction documentation, supporting contract administration, tracking quality and compliance efforts, and coordinating with third parties and project staff to ensure smooth and timely project execution. The position is Full-Time, Onsite (5 days/week), and in LAWA’s Los Angeles, CA (Project Office).
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
Serve as the owner’s representative for construction administration-related matters. Track and ensure timely receipt, response, and filing of all project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change requests, and correspondence. Draft task orders, change orders, response letters, and other contract-related documentation. Assist in the preparation of monthly project reports and progress pay estimates. Maintain organized and up-to-date project files and correspondence logs. Coordinate with third parties, utility companies, testing and inspection agencies, and contractors. Track quality control test results and contractor compliance with QA/QC programs. Support the project/construction/commercial manager in preparing fact-finding reports and documentation related to contractor disputes and claims. Help maintain project momentum and mitigate administrative delays.
Qualifications And Skills
Required Education & Experience
Associate degree in engineering or business administration. Minimum of 5 years of related experience in construction office engineering or contract administration. Previous experience with LAWA projects. Knowledge of LAWA office engineering processes and procedures. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Preferred
Experience using project management software such as Prolog, Procore, Primavera, or PMWeb. Caltrans and/or City of Los Angeles project experience. Experience with alternative delivery methods such as Progressive Design-Build, Design-Build, and CMGC.
