PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Engineering: The PCE is responsible for coordinating with individuals, managing engineering firms, and following processes and standards to ensure the company achieves reliable, quality, cost effective and safe designs. The Project Controls Engineer has the responsibility for engineering and design technical matters at the project site, including: Directly lead, coach and mentor a team of Field Engineers (FEs), including how the FEs support Trade Superintendents, as well as project tracking and reporting. Support the project’s safety program and protocols in all aspects of project design, engineering, and construction execution activities. Support the project’s quality assurance program and protocols to ensure every effort is made to build the project right the first time. Coordinate all design issues with Trade Superintendents and third-party engineers (EOR). Act as engineering liaison for the construction team, third-party Engineer of Record, client and internal engineering resources from award through final completion. Manage the Request for Information (RFI) process. Coordinate documents for construction with the Engineering Team and field operations. Coordinate, manage and oversight permitting. Coordinate with Field Engineering and third-party engineering to complete As-Built records. Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Assist the site in promptly identifying and addressing issues. FE Reporting Audit: Ensure accuracy, consistency and timeliness in reporting (e.g., progress maps, POD, Monthly/Weekly reports, 3-week look-a-heads). Engineering Calls: Update engineering PPT on design, permits, and operations open items for the PV and HV sites of the project. PV EOR Calls: Manage and update the agenda on ACC for PV engineering oversight, including submittals and RFIs. Project Controls: The PCE is the site-based Project Controls representative and is responsible for the following activities: Update and collaborate with the PM and home office Project Controller on project budgeting, spend reporting, trend analysis, change order management and cash flow reporting. Daily, weekly and monthly internal and external project reporting. Provide input to the PowerPoint presentation for Quarterly WIP. Ensure crew matrices and production trackers are being developed and updated by Trade Superintendents. Helping the Site Manager with indirect cost activities (Gas, Ice, Water, Site Trucks). Process Improvement: Regularly review and refine processes for efficiency. Cost and Production Analysis: Support Field Engineers with tools and formulas for analyses. Ad-hoc reports requested by the Client. May assume responsibility for site operations in the Site Manager’s absence.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 3-5 years of experience in renewables, solar experience is a plus. Experience working as a PCE in an Engineering, Procurement and Construction firm is a plus. PREFERRED SKILLS/ABILITIES: Must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR). Accounting (math and record-keeping). Ability to give presentations to groups of 10 or more people. Involved with and understands 2 or more disciplines (civil, electrical, mechanical, and commissioning). Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, e-mail), Adobe Acrobat/BlueBeam, P6 or other scheduling applications, Visio and engineering software applications. Effective communication (oral, written, presentation), motivation, and supervisory skills. Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks. Project Controls Leads are expected to re-locate to the project site for the duration of each construction project they are assigned to (project duration averages 6-15 months). 401k w/employer match Health/Dental/Vision insurance plans Paid time off 10 paid holidays Stock purchase plan Salary $95,000- $105,000 annually, dependent on experience, qualifications, and competencies.
