Maintain relationships with Agents, SARS Customs, Service Providers (Internal & External), and clients. Manage and control the forwarding/receipt of inbound and outbound cargo documentation. Liaise and negotiate with statutory bodies to ensure effective finalization of the documentation process. Manage the C&F team and ensure they are all up to date on new statutory requirements. Clearing documentation for road freight. Prepare management reports. Drive and manage profitable and consistent commercial retention, new business development, and growth initiatives. Identify staff development/training needs and ensure high levels of staff motivation and enthusiasm. Ensure the effective running and coordination of the Forwarding and Clearing Compliance Manager Operational function. Ensure that all relevant policies and procedures are adhered to. Set up reports and tools to rate performance/inefficiencies and implement action plans. Maintain client satisfaction through cooperation with allied disciplines (entries, invoicing, customs, transporters). Ensure effective and efficient client communication across all departments within the branch. Manage and control the forwarding/receipt of inbound and outbound cargo documentation. Liaise and negotiate with statutory bodies for effective documentation finalization. Clear documentation and processes for road freight to Botswana, Namibia, Swaziland, and Lesotho. Experience in Customs Clearing & overall Clearing & Forwarding processes. Knowledge of EasiClear / CompuClear. Ability to frame entries in the absence of the Entry Clerks. Manage a Forward and Clearing Team. Exposure to Industrial Relations procedures and staff performance evaluations. Ensure compliance with the Customs Act and SARS Regulations, and communicate changes to the organization. Stay updated on changes to the Customs Act and SARS Legislation. Inform the board of legislative changes and provide guidance on their effects on the organization. Desired Experience & Qualification
Matric. Tertiary Qualification in Logistics / Supply Chain. Minimum of 10 years working experience within the Logistics and Supply Chain Industry. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing a Forward and Clearing Team. Strong knowledge of Customs Clearing & overall Clearing & Forwarding processes. Fully computer literate with an aptitude for technology and systems (knowledge of EasiClear / Asakhuda / Diamond is advantageous). Experience in Urgent, Express, and Cross Border Road freight. Competent in MS Office. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and manage several projects simultaneously. Willingness to work a flexible schedule. Strong interpersonal and business communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work in a pressurized environment with superior planning and execution skills.
