Project Manager - Mine Permitting and Reclamation (Chicago/Downers Grove) Join to apply for the Project Manager - Mine Permitting and Reclamation (Chicago/Downers Grove) role at Burns & McDonnell Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company, Inc. is seeking a Project Manager and practice leader in mine permitting, reclamation, and remediation to support our mining practice growth in the West and Southwest regions of the United States. The successful candidate will work closely with senior officers, business development leadership, project teams, geoscientists, construction teams, and other technical professionals to drive growth. Responsibilities include: Providing engineering technical and management leadership for mine permitting, reclamation, and remediation, including evaluating market conditions and supporting business development. Applying creativity, foresight, and engineering judgment to solve routine and complex problems. Organizing programs and projects, developing standards, and guiding diverse engineering activities. Planning and implementing business development activities for targeted growth markets. Developing project proposals and supporting the growth of the mining practice. Working with clients to provide long-term strategic solutions for mine infrastructure. Participating in industry technical and regulatory forums. Directing conceptual studies, detailed design, field investigations, and construction support. Coordinating with clients, assisting in contract negotiations, and project planning. Maintaining safety standards and ensuring effective communication among disciplines. Managing project changes and mentoring team members. Preparing scopes of work, specifications, schedules, budgets, and staffing plans. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field from an accredited program. Minimum 7 years (preferably 15 years) of experience in mine permitting, reclamation, remediation, and infrastructure. Experience with tailings and heap leach mining is a plus. Proven leadership and client relationship skills. Highly organized, resourceful, and detail-oriented. Compensation: $175,000 - $315,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications, including a base salary and bonus potential.
